Very nice! Sounds like a great setup you have going on there.
The brewhardware products are great quality! I have one of their heat sticks that I use in my boil kettle, and the quality is amazing! I'll be putting this RIMS tube on my wishlist.
This has me intrigued! I've recently switched to all electric and have been pondering a RIMS tube from Brewhardware for dialing in my mash temp. Are you using any sort of false bottom or is the bazooka tube doing the trick for you when you are recirculating?
Your setup is what I envision...
i helped a friend brew this up a few weeks ago. Checked the gravity on it today (still had krausen on top...so we thought it was still fermenting)...and it was all the way down to 1.002 (down from 1.056). We totally missed adding the belgian candy sugar. My question...can we still add it this...
Cracked a bottle of this last night as I was growing impatient and couldn't wait any longer. WOW! I'm ordering the ingredients to make this again ASAP because this one is going to go quick!
Thanks again Yooper for the recipe!
Checked my gravity last night after 2 weeks...and it was down to 1.012! Going to check again tonight to see if its the same and will rack and dry hop if so. The sample was delicious!
Bottled this yesterday...and it was the most painful bottling experience ever! The smell from the brew was so amazing I just wanted to drink it all right then and there! The 3 week waiting for it to bottle condition is going to be torture! But as they say...good things come to those who wait!!
wow! That didn't take long! I pitched the yeast around 10 PM last night after shaking the crap out of the wort...and its boobling already! Go yeasties!
Doh!! Just a little late reading your reply...dang. I followed the steps you posted. I was making a IIPA...OG was 1.088. I used 5 tbsp of harvested yeast and made a 2L starter with it...decanted some of the beer off the top and then pitched it. Should be interesting to say the...
Hey...I'm curious how this worked out for you? I'm in a similar situation for a brew I have planned and I'm uncertain how much harvested yeast to use for a starter. The way you calculated makes good sense to me and I'm thinking I'm going to go ahead and follow you method.
Thanks
Well mine turned great! It's a hit amongst all my friends...and has been labelled as the "gateway" beer...as most nights having started out with one of these...ends up being a 4 AM adventure! Thanks for the recipe! I'll be brewing this again sooon!
Yes dry hopping in secondary. Mine is light too....definitely lighter than any of the pics I've seen posted. Being my first all grain...I'm ok with it...I drank the sample when i took a reading and couldn't believe I made what I was drinking...lol.
My gravity was right around the same as yours...I checked mine tonight (day 10) and it was at 1.012. I'm going to rack and dry hop tomorrow night...and hopefully rinse the yeast for my imperial IPA this weekend! Wish me luck!
