    To experienced hop growers...

Can you post a picture of the entire bine? Do you do a moisture test before you water? I can go out and take a picture of my hop plants and all of them have that yellowing on the bottom. It just looks like spent leaves but I could be wrong.. Try and foliar is Iron/Zinc see if that helps like HF...

    To experienced hop growers...

Pics speak louder than words.. Get a close up of a leaf in question and then take a picture of the entire bine.. If the yellowing leaves are only happening down low I wouldn't worry about it to much. Those leaves are older and they have served their purpose so they turn yellow and fall off. If...

    Poop

You need to let the manure rest for a couple months before you apply it other wise it will burn very badly. And you may not want to use the horse manure because you will get weeds coming up everywhere.. I would probably just use the chicken manure myself

    Insecticide

Its hard to say which kind of caterpillar it is without seeing a picture but anything with BT or spinosad will kill them

    Insecticide

Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) and Spinosad will take care of eating insects (snails, caterpillars, earwigs) and they wont kill the benificials. If you get aphids a insecticidal soap will work for them but make sure to spray it early morning or late late after noon otherwise you could get some...

    hop fertilizer

Superthrive is just over priced root stimulator. I got a sample from work and tried it on some bare root berries I planted this year and there is no difference between the two. Id try and get some green light root stimulator.. I have tried that and it does make a difference.

Bag Worm Control - BT, Sevin, etc?

It will kill the eggs but it will not touch the bag worms them selves. It will just control them. Spinosad does not significantly affect beneficial organisms including ladybugs, green lacewings, minute pirate bugs, and predatory mites. Spinosad is not a contact killer. The bog has to eat what...

Bag Worm Control - BT, Sevin, etc?

Spinosad is animal and human safe.. Right now I believe it is the only 100% food safe pesticide on the market. It is whats used in sluggo plus and it has been OMRI approved.. Insecticidal soap works by suffocation. Which is fine if your going after aphids. Buuuuut Caterpillars will not be...

Bag Worm Control - BT, Sevin, etc?

BT is a good pesticide.. If you wanna go totally garden safe but still just as effective as BT, Monterey has a product called take down I believe that has spinosad in it which is completely organic. And spinosad kills all stages of worms/caterpillars.

    Planting With Marigolds

Marigolds repel a lot of bugs but the also attract a lot of bugs.. Think of them as a sacrificial plant. They'll go after the marigolds before the look at your hops.

Extract vs. All Grain in competitions

Competition wise i have no idea why the two styles aren't in different categories. But I will say this sometimes i just don't feel like spending 3 hours over a kettle. extract is quick and easy but sometimes you do have to do all grain to get that certain flavor or feel that extract just doesn't...

    Miracle gro is amazing!

Finally someone stands up for organics! Synthetics are also made up of a lot of salts. They may work for a short period of time. But after they have washed through your soil, being salts they have leeched your soil now of a tooooon of living things.. You have a to keep a good balance of living...
