Second year Newport hops have already reached the top of their 10ft. trellis. Any suggestions on what to do once they reach the top? I have about 4 bines with a fifth one breaking ground. Figure I will just let more grow since the others have already reached the top.
Had possibly the same problem with my first batch. Figured out it may have fermented at too low of a temperature. Second batch I controlled the temperature and that "aftertaste" was no longer there. I too contributed it to a yeasty aftertaste. Warmer fermenting temperature definately corrected...
If I remember correctly, I believe Obama's first beer in the white house was a Yuengling. Which as a Pennsylvanian, that is pretty awesome, he may have even said that is favorite beer is Yuengling at one point. The last part might just be wishful thinking. Either way this is cool.

I too am new to the forum and getting serious about homebrewing but agree that both South Hill Brewing and Wine store locations are great and very helpful. I've been going to the one in Monroeville, and the guys there couldn't be more helpful.
