    Mixed style recipe critique

I also forgot to add that target OG was 1.057 and measured was 1.060 and it should be somewhere around 27 IBU's but it's hard to tell from homegrown hops

Awesome! The OG sample was pretty tasty so I think it should come it pretty delicious. I was planning on doing them fresh but I had 3 different harvests because they weren't all ready at the same time. I was also gonna dry hop but only got 3.5oz dried so I threw all them in the boil. I'll...

    Mixed style recipe critique

I went to my lhbs and picked a few malts that I thought would taste good together. I really like a good biscuity and bready malt profile so that was my inspiration. This is also the first batch I used my homegrown Willamette hops on. This is my first recipe I created and wasn't following any...

    2013 Willamette Hop Log

Well you can't pick the weather which sucks. But yes I would have to train about every day cause there was about 7in on average that would try growing vertical. They have done very good growing horizontal.

    2013 Willamette Hop Log

Thanks! I tested my soil a few weeks ago with the color chart kit and I was getting between 6.0 - 6.5 ph. I don't know about all the other numbers thought lol. The weather has really been cooperating this year and had really helped the growing season here in southern Indiana.

So it's been awhile since my last post but not much has happened except for hop growth. I'm getting some great looking cones and clusters. 22 July

Will my damaged bine sprout new bine?

It's been awhile since I updated but they have been growing pretty strong lately and producing nice spurs at each node. One of the 2 bines seems to have turned the top into a cluster of hops instead of the"head" that grows. The other bine is still growing and putting out spurs at the nodes.

20 June The bottom leaves are still growing and it seems to be creeping up to the other leaves. The spurs are starting to form into hops.

    2013 Willamette Hop Log

Update 10 June Horizontal growth is still coming along and more and more sidearms with spurs are popping up. The cutting I put in the ground is doing well and I plan on digging it up this fall and transplanting it to the future trellis spot. Here lately the bottom leaves have been looking...

    Propagating from Hop Cuttings

Here is one of my cuttings that I put in the ground and it's starting to take off! I just added some miracle grow when I planted. The browning leaves on bottom are the original leaves that seemed to do that with my other cuttings as well

I had a hail storm do the same to one of my tips and it sent out 2 more bines out the closest node and smaller ones out the next few as well. The 2 new "main" bines are sending out side arms and have some good looking spurs on them.

    Propagating from Hop Cuttings

I took 6 cuttings that were about 6" long and dipped them in root hormone and placed them in bottles full of water. Only 1 took root, and I planted that in a small pot and it is doing well. Just to try, I took another small cutting, a few inches long, and dug a small hole along side my chain...
