I like those short Sierra bottles too. If I need bottles and have to drink commercial brew their Pale Ale is pretty good and readily available.
I use Franziskaner bottles for hefes.
Very nice! She is definitely a sweetheart! My wife will often do similar things and it reminds me what a special lady she is. You too are a lucky man Bill :rockin:
Thanks ajf...that explains the difference that I was seeing. I had no idea you could set the correction. I was just using the default settings. I'll have to dig into the different programs and see how to change the settings.
Strange it is....FWIW... in unfermented wort:
Beer Tools Pro (v. 1.5.21) 20 Brix= 1.080 SG
Beer Smith 2 (v. 2.0.57) 20 Brix= 1.081 SG
Brew Mate (v. 1.22) 20 Brix= 1.083 SG
I assume we are doing the BS2 conversions the same. I wonder why the difference?
I have been looking at the MM2-2.0 for the this reason plus the fact that it is a proven commodity. I really like it's hopper design and it's a beast to put it mildly. The last time I contacted Fred at MM, they weren't currently available...frames were coming in later in the week and all of them...
I like them both. NB ships quicker and cheaper, but there prices are a little bitter higher. In the end, the prices tend to balance out. So, the only difference is you get your order maybe a couple of days earlier with NB.
Williams Brewing carries the Vintage Shop carboy in 3, 5, and 6 gallon sizes both with and without a spigot. They also carry a 1-inch high flow valve, but I'm not sure if this is the same spigot that comes with the VS carboy.
Thanks John.... I have all the patience in the world, so 5-6 minutes for racking 5 gallons is no problem to me either! Thanks again for taking the time to help me make an informed decision.
How are the spigots on the BB's? I like the idea so I don't have to siphon, but I have read reviews that say they are painfully slow. Please give me your opinion if you have used them. Thanks.
Yeah, good idea with the milk crate. I never had to worry that much about "suck back" with glass. Must be a bit easier/safer to move them around in the crate too.
Thanks....this is what I was hoping to hear! Williams Brewing also sells the Vintage Shop carboys. Do you find the 6 gallon capacity adequate? I am presently using 6-1/2 gallon glass, but the weight is getting old as I get older!
