    Glycol Chiller in HOT Florida

I have decided that I have to replace my Glycol Chiller. I bought an Icemaster 100, AKA Loudmaster, AKA Leakmaster. I am tired of dealing with the fan noise, where I had to bend the blades back into place to get the unit to run after receiving new and tired of dealing with Glycol/Water mix...

Teddy Grahams in Beer - need help

So, I'm in a competition where you are given a random ingredient that needs to be apparent and the base style should also show. My ingredient is teddy Grahams. I brewed a strong blond ale at around 7% abv and used 2 boxes of honey Grahams with a base of Maris otter and honey malt, and my go-to...

    Glass Hydromter Readings Changed?

What lab grade hydrometers do you use? This sounds like something worth investing in.

    Glass Hydromter Readings Changed?

My sample temps have been in the 65ºF to 70ºF and I did adjust the reading for temperature. Unfortunately, I am inclined to believe the OG numbers (pre-drop) over the FG numbers. I did a taste test and one of the brews that the calculation shows is 1.5% ABV is by taste, not so... not a...

    What are you drinking now?

A bomber of Big Storm Brewery's Huracan. A RIS that the wife bought me to open on New Years Eve, but decided tonight that we should try it and if it's good, we can buy another tomorrow for New Year Eve. :)

What I did for beer today

I started the cold crash on my Big Booty Brown Ale after discovering that my hydrometer is reading off, then took a gravity reading of the Figgy Pudding Milk Stout, then ordered ingredients to brew a pale ale this weekend. Tomorrow I will bottle my entry into a local Ironbrew competition that...

    Glass Hydromter Readings Changed?

So, I on my last brew, I found my OG was 7 point higher than expected. I was completely cool with that since it was a new recipe and an experimental beer, anyway. Today, I took readings of two beers that I have in the fermenters that should have finished by now. Both were reading much higher...

How do I keep a 19 year old out of my beer?

Wow! That's perfect. I scoured the internet for exactly that. Good find.

How do I keep a 19 year old out of my beer?

So, my bil is not disrespectful, just sneaky. Beer goes missing and nobody knows what happened to it. As does cologne, food, phone chargers, etc. Things where I've got no solid evidence, but it didn't happen before he moved in. I like the idea of a webcam... but maybe not advertise it...

How do I keep a 19 year old out of my beer?

I could probably add a lock, but it would really detract from the aesthetics. Im thinking a clasp lock where the door meets the side. I do like the idea of an in-line shutoff. I may be able to rig up something that locks the shutoff closed with a padlock.

How do I keep a 19 year old out of my beer?

I have my brother in law, 19 years old, living with us. I'm looking for a way to keep him from accessing the homebrew. I've installed a chain and lock on the handles of the doors of the garage fridge where the bottles live. How do I keep him and his friends out of the kegs? I've got them in...

What I did for beer today

Started brewing a Premium Bitter. Found junk coming out of my kettle while heating the mash water. Threw in some oxyclean and did a complete equipment wash. Then brewed the bitter. Afterwards, thoroughly washed all equipment. Now, drinking a Jai Alai IPA.

I Brewed an Crazy Strong Belgian Golden… Now What?!

I kept mine at 68 for two weeks, then per the advice of one of the commercial brewers nearby, I brought it up to ambient garage temp (83F). My O.G. was 1.090 and F.G. 1.004. It has some nice spices and a tart apple hint to it.

I Brewed an Crazy Strong Belgian Golden… Now What?!

BoShimTang, I have had a russian imperial stout never carb up on me, that is why I am a little cautious. I used Wyeast 3711. Cheesydemon3, I thought about force carbing it, but I have a single regulator with two ports, so I would have to have only that keg on the system b/c of the high...

I Brewed an Crazy Strong Belgian Golden… Now What?!

I just finished racking a Belgian Golden that I brewed three weeks ago into the 5 gallon carboy and of course took a gravity reading. Holy Cow! I am at 11.4% ABV and it tastes great. I was originally shooting for 10.1% to fit it in the style guidelines, but I way underestimated my...
