Flavor and aroma loss - I can not figure out why this keeps happening!

I use it at mash. So how can I fill kegs without spunding?

Flavor and aroma loss - I can not figure out why this keeps happening!

What type of setup do you use? Do you ferment under pressure all the way?

Flavor and aroma loss - I can not figure out why this keeps happening!

They go in loose. I dump trub/hops before kegging, so as to not clog the valves of the unitank when kegging.

Flavor and aroma loss - I can not figure out why this keeps happening!

Tbh I never purge the tank directly. Only slightly during the second hop drop... I however purge/spund the kegs so naturally a lot of aroma disappear there...

Flavor and aroma loss - I can not figure out why this keeps happening!

I figured the added benefit of the campden powder would outweigh this...

Flavor and aroma loss - I can not figure out why this keeps happening!

I have been brewing about a NEIPA every second month for a year now, trying to dial in different recipes and get them just right but I keep struggling with a recurring loss of flavor or aroma. The flavor is there but it is way muted and the sample I pull from the fermenter is always way fresher...

Unitank users: How do you avoid oxygen when connecting tri clamp accessories?

Hi. I am a proud owner of a Unitank. I carbonated and kegged my beer today, and while I was connecting the carbonation stone I started thinking about how to avoid the evil oxygen. I had the carb stone to a T bend, and connected the stone to gas. Then I vented out of the t bend with a butterfly...

How should I sparge most efficiently on my new HERMS setup?

I recently conerted my garage brewery to a 3 vessel HERMS. I've produced three beers on it so far, of which two turned out good but the last turned out quite horrible. Not sure what to pin that on, could be excessive sparging(with too heavy flow), possible infection from fermentation bucket(it...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

Would something as simple as this work? Mosfet-modul IRF520 for Arduino - Moduler It's a simple mosfet. If he would hook 5V from the Arduino up to the VIN port, and V+ outport to pump then use the Arduino pwm signal to set it halfway open? If at 50% pwm from arduino it would send 2.5V stable to...

BruControl: Brewery control & automation software

A friend of mine has a fantastic setup for his BruControl. He is having trouble with his proportional valves. He bought two of these valves...

Metzen's Mini Fridge Glycol Chiller Conversion

I did my own spin on this. I got a hold of an upright freezer for a measly 80 bucks. This upright freezer had the coils between the drawers and I was able to bend the middle one down into the drawer, fill it with glycol and use it for a glycol chiller. I did a writeup on this on reddit: It...

Building a glycol chiller from an old freezer

You won't get it too chill fast enough lest the coils are in direct contact with the liquid. I've seen some people run the glycol bath directly in a freezer, meaning the coils are pretty much right into the glycol and it works some but the best would be to allow the glycol to have direct...

    Automation software CbPi vs BrewControl

As a user who has tried both CraftBeerPi(I've brewed on a friend's system) and on BruControl(my own setup) I have to say that BruControl offers the best flexibility and reliability. CraftBeerPi is cheap, open source and runs on a Raspberry Pi. BruControl costs about 100usd(?) for a license, and...

Building a glycol chiller from an old freezer

I live in Norway, which is undoubtfully known for its cool climate. We reach about 77-80 degrees F in the summer(25 degrees celsius) on a good day. I am in need of a glycol chiller to chill multiple fermenters. I've been looking at official gear from SS Brewtech which is crazy expensive. I've...
