This thread seems to have diverged from the original topic :-/ Has anyone been able to find the correct lid o-ring? I'm suffering from the same problem of the standard one being too thick and the lid not being able to be clamped down and sealed. Thoughts?

Don't really want to get involved in the argument, but this seems a fitting place to request for some more detailed info on when to take a hyrdrometer reading. I've read that I want to minimalize my brew's exposure to air. Is there a rule of thumb to know when to take the Day 1 & Day 3...

I'm a newbie home-brewer (on the 3rd batch) and would really appreciate if someone can assist in helping me convert this recipe (the one from rock hoppers brew club) to an extract recipe. I'd really like to get this going soon in time to drink around the holidays.
