Single Hop APA: Citra, Amirillo or Simcoe?

Here is a all-Citra APA SMaSH that I brewed this past fall, turned out amazing: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f12/oh-hey-citra-pale-ale-smash-282010/ I really dig the Citra, the key is to let it age a little and it mellows out and tastes really awesome.

    Lagunitas IPA Clone

Agreed. I have used 1968 in a few beers as it is a yeast I wash and have on hand more than most. I think with this beer it is stalling because the mash temp is so high (160F), and I am guessing 1968 quits early because it is not good at eating the slightly less ferment-able sugars that are...

    Lagunitas IPA Clone

It turned out really well, just low ABV compared to the real beer. Upped the grain in the second attempt and that is in primary now. Having issues getting 1968 to ferment below 1.021 on the higher ABV version. Even pitched a 3L starter, ferment took off right away and fermented it at 68F...

Oh Hey - Citra Pale Ale SMaSH

Great Western makes the Northwest Pale Ale malt, it lends a bit more biscuity flavor to the beer than a traditional 2-row. Bulk Malts | Great Western Malting Never used Breiss except for their standard 2-row, good stuff? I really like the way the Citra works with the malt and the Wyeast...

Oh Hey - Citra Pale Ale SMaSH

This is my first Smash recipe, and my first recipe in general. Looking for feedback on process/recipe improvements! Beer turned out great, really showcases the Citra hops, might consider upping the IBU slightly as the sweetness from the 1968 yeast really is present. "Oh Hey" - Citra Pale...

Can You Brew It recipe for Lagunitas IPA

Turned out awesome, however slightly on the lower ABV side. Ends up being around 5.50%, the real thing I believe is 6.50-6.80%. Will definitely be making it again, just will be increasing the grain bill next time to get the ABV. Definitely worth brewing, the taste and aroma are pretty much...

    1/2bbl Force Carbing Recommendations

Just wanted to update this thread on how things turned out. 5 days @ 30psi is nowhere near enough. I ended up going with 7 days @ 30psi, and then rolling the kegs on the ground at the 12psi serving pressure (keg was cooled to 38 degrees). This force carbed the keg, but needed about 20-40...

    Portland, OR brews

Another +1 on not going to McMenamins, they have okay beers....but I wouldn't go there unless I really had to. Deschutes is my favorite downtown. You are drinking Mirror Pond from the bright tank at their downtown pub, they brew it there and serve it from the bright tanks. Probably one of...

Group Buy: Accuflex Bev-Seal Ultra barrier line

Just an FYI, this worked fine for me on my 1/4" nipples. At first it was a little difficult, but by the end you catch on and figure out how much flame is needed to spread it apart enough. Works great.
