Figured I'd update this. It's been bottled for quite a while now, chilled on for a couple days and cracked one open. Unfortunately it was a drain pour. It tastes like Flinstone vitamins. Lesson learned. Don't drink so much on brew day that you can't read instructions.
Will do. I think I'm going to follow Seth's advice and steep 1lb flaked oats instead of the extra grains. My brother is huge into making espresso and other coffees and has offered to contribute with some. We're researching the best way to add it to our batch. From what we are planning so...

Steep:
.5lb Roasted Barley
.5lb Black Malt
.5lb Chocolate Malt

1.75 oz Summit
15 min:
6lb Dark Malt LME
Aroma:
2 oz Cascade

When reading the instructions on the vial, I misread the usage...
Awesome. Just eased my mind that everything will be good =)
I have been trying to read as much as I can and I feel like I'm pretty hooked already. My brother and I have been collecting whale beers for the past couple years and this seems like the next logical step in the addiction. In the...
Like a lot of people here I'm sure, I got one of the homebrewing starter kits as a gift this Christmas. I decided to try my luck at the red ale extract kit and followed the instructions pretty much to a tee. The first 24 hours of fermentation was pretty cool, it was bubbling like crazy and...
