Proposed change in KS microbrewery law

Glazer distributors won a case that deemed the residency requirement as unconstitutional. Final findings from the court document: "Based on the discussion above, the Court finds, rather than exercising a core concern of the Twenty-first Amendment, the challenged residency requirement...

    GROUP BREW: Strawberry Mead

Hey gents (and ladies...if it fits), I've been lurking on this thread, and hope to hear more. I'm due to deploy in a month or so. I plan on making this mead recipe and leaving it to age for the year I'll be gone. All of your efforts have been very educational, but don't stop now...

    Coffee Techniques

Stephelton: I made a coffee brew a while back starting with an extract recipe from another user--Big Kahuna??. Recipe called for a cup of fresh ground coffee steeped in 1/2 gallon of water. I ended up steeping 1/2 POUND of coffee on accident (kinda expensive cause I used Kona coffee). I...

Please post a verified "decent" Gluten Free recipe?

Cascadie, My wife is gluten intollerant too. I've recently brewed a cider for her. There are quite a few recipes out there for them. I used the following: 10 cans (from the freezer section) of Berry Juice concentrate. The cheap stuff. I was looking for apple juice initially, but...

    Digital Thermometer Question..

I've purchased two separate digital thermometers. Both worked great the first time. They had insulated wires that were crimped into the end of the metal probe. Problem arose when after I was done brewing, the temperature went all wacky (that's a technical term) It was reading room...

    Navy vs. Marines

Oddly enough, the Marines are the only service that REQUIRES a HS diploma to join. Waivers on this happen, but VERY seldom. GED will get you into any of the other services. As far as inter-service rivalry...in the last 17 years, I've served with great men and women in ALL services. As I...

My first brew. Expectations vs. results.

My neighbor and I have been tackling the homebrew hobby together. Both of us have an appreciation for great beer, so we keep eachother in check. My first batch: I liked it. I knew it was lacking in a few areas...I shorted the batch, so instead of being an American Amber Ale it was more...

    Coffee question

Berg, I just tried a coffee brew this week, so I'm waiting for the verdict as well. I used a recipe I found online called "New House Ale" done by a guy living here in Hawaii. He recommended a pound of coarse ground steeped at 170 for 20 min, then cooled and added to the brew before pitching...

My first amber ale was a little...what went wrong

Aloha from Hawaii... New to the forum, but I've already learned alot. My first batch (aside from 3 gallons of Mr. Brew my mother-in-law got me) was an Amber Ale (malt extract, cracked grains, hop pellets). I got the recipe from my LHBS and followed it to the letter, EXCEPT for not topping...
