Must see breweries before you die!

I'm fortunate to live in Wisconsin. Sand Creek in Black River Falls, O'so in St. Point, Point Brewery, Central Waters, Viking, Leinie's in Chippewa Falls. Gosh I've been to many of the breweries. Been once to the brew pub in the Dells (they have a great Honey Beer). Sometimes I wonder why I...

Don't fret over the color. Just enjoy drinking it and use a different recipe next time.

Brew day help needed: how do I measure fresh orange peel?

Soak your orange peel (I use three oranges for five gal.) in vodka or rum in a lidded sandwich box. Start the peels when you start your ferment. Keep in fridg. and shake it daily Then add the liquor at bottling. You will get the most reliable orange flavor that way. And don't include the pith...

    Advice to future home brewer

I did my first batch as extract just because I didn't have the equipment for all grain. Also if you keep the recipe simple you can concentrate on your technique and the process. It takes a few times to get it down pat. The difference between store bought beer and homebrew is like the difference...

    Pils vs 2-row

I believe for extract you can just use it as the light. But if you use grain you have to be sure to do a 90 min. boil. I use the pils DME for honey beer sometimes to make it lighter in color. Use cascade hops . The guys love it.

    orange zest/peels post-fermentation

I didn't know there was different kinds of coriander. But I buy it whole and then crack it with beer bottle. And I don't filter it out I put EVERYTHING into the fermentor. A wheat beer can generally be bottled at two weeks. Get your orange going and leave the beer alone for another week. Don't...

    orange zest/peels post-fermentation

I use a whole oz cracked coriander. Then while beer is fermenting, take outer peel of two oranges and soak them in vodka or white rum to cover in a plastic covered bowl or sandwich container. Keep it in fridg and shake it daily. Add the liquor to the bottling bucket. Put that beer out at a...

Can I scale back brew sizes, or is 5 gallons the standard for a reason?

Well in this neck of the woods, five gal doesn't last long if it's a good honey ale with cascade hops. My husband and his brother can polish off a good portion on one sitting by the campfire. I brew that in ten gal batches now. But I think for a special Christmas recipe, it would be appropriate...

Is is possible to do 5 gal. AG with one 7.5 gallon kettle?

JohnK can you explain that bucket idea again? I see the picture but I don't know what is going on there exactly? It looks to be very smart and innovative to me.

Coor's Disposable Keg = Party Pig?

My idea is to get more bottles from Mid west. I have TAD already and this coors setup gives me another tap. I don't need more than two going at a time.
