What was your Gatewaybeer to craft beer?

My intro to anything other than commercial was Blue Point Brewing Company. My brother worked at a restaurant where Mark was the brewmaster about 20 years ago, so when word spread that he had his own brewery in Patchogue I became a regular at the tasting room.

    Is my new brew cursed?!?

While brewing a Brooklyn Beer Everyday IPA, I was chilling with a home brew during the mash, I spilled my pint! Will this batch be cursed? I quickly opened another then cleaned the first but I'm concerned I may have pissed off the Brew Gods.

    2 weeks into 1st brew

Not exactly clear, but I can read the hydrometer thru the beer in a test jar. Recipe said blonde, color is redder. Taste is like flat, warm Blue Point Toasted Lager. I don't have the ability to cool it below outdoor temps, but the garage should be around 40 for the next few days.

    Beersmith?

How good IS Beersmith at recipe conversions? Does the final result of an extract conversion due the original all grain justice?

Brewers Best American Pale Ale Kit - Please share your experience!

I just made my first Brewer Best kit this weekend. And I boiled over a little at the first hops addition. Really have to watch the pot. Wish I knew the spritzer bottle thing a few days ago.
