    Out of homebrew... thirsty...

I second Lone Star, but everywhere I buy it in the Dallas area it is as expensive as Shiner or St. Arnold. Where do you find cheap Lone Star other than San Antonio?

First All-Grain is Finished. Need some questions answered

Wow, that sounds just like what happened to me. I think my flame was my problem also. I plan on doing another batch this weekend so I will control the flame a little better and see if that makes a difference. Lane

First All-Grain is Finished. Need some questions answered

I did leave a little behind in the boil kettle, although I don't think it was quite a gallon. Either way if it was a gallon then I still lost 3 gallons in 90 minutes! Will this be corrected by turning down the gas to the burner? Lane

First All-Grain is Finished. Need some questions answered

I did actually check the gravity before adding the water and it was 1.064. The recipe was calling for 1.040. The beer is Biermunchers "Cream of three crops ale." So the OG was wayyyy off. After adding the water I was at 1.044. So I felt OK after adding the water. Lane

First All-Grain is Finished. Need some questions answered

Thanks for all of the replies. I just bought a Bayou Classic SP-10. Also, a pretty wide Aluminum 10 gal stock pot. I did have the burner cranked pretty high. This was my first use of the pot and burner so I probably had the burner to high. I didn't realize that I could boil off too mych with the...

Need help with Ranco Temp Controller and Freezer

Thanks for the info. I figured the freezer was a goner, but not that big of a loss. Quick question, in the instructions for my Ranco, the only setting I can find that is close is for the "Differential Temperature" is this the short cycle delay you are referring to? Thanks, Lane

Need help with Ranco Temp Controller and Freezer

Also, I plugged the freezer in without the Ranco, and now I only get a clicking noise(no cooling whatsoever). So ,I guess the freezer is dead. Lane

Need help with Ranco Temp Controller and Freezer

Ok, you totally went over my head! :drunk: I assume you mean changing a setting on the freezer, but this freezer only had a knob that goes from 1-5 (cold-coldest). Or is this a setting on the Ranco? I missed it if it is. Thanks for the help! Lane
