well since i happen to be a teenager i would politely disagree, i find it to be a nice smell but at the same time just a little strange. oh well... haha thanks
so a random question. what would you typically describe the smell of boiling wort to... it is quite an odd aroma that i cannot seem to put my finger on..... hmmmmm any help?
haha
well so far so good... nice rolling boil of 5 gallons ish...... we will see how she continues.... gosh i love this website... so much damn information and so much insight in such a small place
so glad to be a part of it
i am brewing a true brew german style ale. and as you suggested about 2 weeks ago i exchanged my other misc. corn sugars and rice syrup solids for some plain light DME. so we will see... kind of a not by the kit, kit....
haha
thanks i will let you know how the brew goes... so far so good
do they work? and does anyone have any experience with them? i was looking at those thinking it might work out nicely. also how much temp difference can i expect?
so i see a lot of threads on here about fermenting too hot but i definitely have the opposite problem. my basement is typically around 60* and i would say that it gets down to about 58* at night and maybe up to 62* during the day... is there any way to help and make it a little warmer down there...
so i am new to brewing but getting very excited about starting my first batch.
so i have a few questions in regards to equipment, i know that different people prefer different things so just let me know what you like and why. that would be great thanks.
as far as primary fermenting buckets...
thanks i was just going to go there because i knew there were a few down there and the gf lives there. thanks tho for the suggestion i will def check it out
not really starting big, i just am extremely interested in it and i know that i am going to enjoy it. i am just trying to start off as sucessful as i can possibly be, i mean i know that i can only do so well on my first batch but i want it to be at least a decent batch.
yeah i actually bought the book and have been reading it, i think my problem is that i just need to get out there and actually start brewing and stop thinking about how exactly i want to do it. haha. i guess i am just over thinking the whole thing.
again any help is greatly appreciated
alright so getting rid of both of my 1 lb bags of sugars and adding some DME sounds like a good idea and will get me a better more flavorful result. so how do i go about buying something like this, what should i be looking for when i am getting either dry malt extract or just another can of malt...
i have a gas stove and i can try and use two burners to help achieve a fuller boil, it is really going to depend on the pot that i buy but i will work on getting something that will allow me to get as close as possible to doing a full boil.
so in regards to not using the sugars that came...
unfortunately doing full boils (with an outside propane burner) isn't really possible in my apartment. what should be the amount of liquid though that i am trying to boil on my stove, becuase that is abuot the only way i am going to be able to do it here.
i would obviously like to do as much...
