Just bottled this last night with 1oz dextrose. Unfortunately we had a siphoning malfunction and exposed it to a lot of oxygen. Hopefully it's ok. We'll see. I think it'll carb up fast due to the distillers yeast. Had just a couple oz left after bottling. Tasted good. Would make a pretty good...

Yeah Im not sure why it was so flavorless... maybe the yeast flavor just covered it up because of how intense it was? I would think that even having the bad yeast taste, you would still be able to taste the rootbeer flavor to extent.. maybe not?:confused:

Well it was indeed carbed. Unfortunately it was disgusting. It tasted like carbonated yeast water. No real rootbeer flavor at all. I figure the yeast taste is just from using bread yeast. But why so flavorless? I would think that a whole bottle of extract would be enough for a gallon...???

SO I've never made soda but thought it would be a fun project for my son and I. We used 2 used 2 liter bottles. Every recipe I've read says that bottle conditioning takes about 3-4 days and that you check it by squeezing the bottle. My problem is, after 24hrs the bottles are rock hard but there...

I looked at all the other clones and they are all kind of all over the place when it comes to the spices. I tried to base my spice levels more on the reviews on beer advocate. And also took your advice and switched the bitter orange peels for sweet orange peels. None of the beers I've brewed...

I brewed an Oktoberfest extract kit right around this time of year back in 2011. Bottled it, after a few weeks I tried one and decided it wasn't all that pleasant tasting. I stuck the two cases in the back of the closet and forgot about them. What are the chances that they are still good 2 years...

It's been a month or better since I've had one but now that you mention it, it does have a little corn flavor to it doesn't it? What are your thoughts on the hops?

I just looked up a simple Witbier recipe on Beersmith and thats where the Goldings hops came from. I dont know, just threw some in there. Lol like I said, most of that was just guess work.:confused:
