    Furnace for new shop/brewery

Thanks Now that you bring up ceiling height, it looks like even the 30,000 btu model requires 12' ceiling height. And doing the math,(Cubic feet x .133 x desired temp rise = BTUs needed.) it looks to me I am going to need absolute minimum 45 k btu and 80+K would be required to get it up to...

    Furnace for new shop/brewery

I just finished my new shop / brewing area. I am wanting to add heat to the shop, and was initially thinking about one of these http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200577751_200577751 But then started thinking having it kick on while brewing and stiring up dust etc probably wasn't...

First time conical first time collecting yeast

I bought a induction 15 gallon conical and added a ball valve then a cam lock connector to a 18" long plastic tube. I did my first batch with the conical and it filled up the tube almost immediately with what I believe was cold break. The bubbler never did bubble, but I could see a lot...

    Contactor Blowing GFI

Thanks Guys. Only had a few minutes to look into it tonight, but I did have the GFI wired wrong. I had the neutral out going to the bus bar instead of the breaker itself. I hooked it back up enough to just check the contactor and it sounded like it worked when I turned on the key. Hopefully...

    Contactor Blowing GFI

It was just the contactor itself that was blowing it. I think I understand PJ. It seems really unlikely that I would have hooked it up to the input side of the breaker, but I need to do some checking. I am sure it is the neutral and not ground. thanks for the replies. I will try to do...

    Contactor Blowing GFI

Thanks Guys. I just took the contactor completely out and jumper'd the coil to a regular outlet. The contactor sounded like it worked, and I didn't blow the 110 GFI on that circuit. So does that mean my 220 gfi is bad? I have used it for my welder, and didn't have any trouble, but It...

    Contactor Blowing GFI

I just finished my control box, plugged it in, turned the switch and blew the GFI. I am down to only having the Contactor wired up as shown in the attachment with nothing attached to the output and nothing else on the neutral connection, and it still blows the GFI when I turn on the switch...

    PWM..Show us How

My setup is a little different. I am using a BCS controller, and want to be able to use the PWM when I switch away from the BCS. Sorry for the cruddy rework of the image, but can anyone tell me if I am on the right track with this setup.

    4000w enough for Keggle Brewing??

Thanks, that makes more sense, that it is tripping the breaker. I was planning on tying the E Stop to a 40 amp contactor coil. Any thoughts on that type of setup? Thanks again.

    4000w enough for Keggle Brewing??

PJ, Pretty much a total electrical dummy here, but I get most of your schematics with the exception of the Estop circuits. I am probably missing something very obvious to most, but it appears the switch is set up to direct one leg of AC to ground? In some of the schematics I have seen, you...

    Soldering Stainless steel

Thanks for the replies. I know it isn't recommended for Aluminum, but I am soldering Stainless that has aluminum sandwiched in it. Depending on if I can flare the hole good enough or not, the solder may never even touch the aluminum. I am just wondering, if it does touch it is it going to...

    Soldering Stainless steel

I have been gathering stuff for a new brew system, and just realized the pots I got have "Encapsulated 5mm thick aluminum" in the bottom, and I was planning on silver soldering the drain in the bottom. Has anyone tried silver soldering something with aluminum sandwiched between stainless...

    2.5 Gallon Electric Herms?

Thanks for the replies guys. You have given me a few things to think about. audger, I was under the impression that 2.5 gallon batches in a 10~15 gallon system wouldn't work well. Wouldn't the evaporation rate go sky high with so much surface area? Thanks for the link. But actually the...
