Fantastic Hard Cider Recipe with Instructions (and fall spice / cherry variations)

This was a big hit at my daughter's wedding 2 weeks ago. Not only did the hard cider last 11 months in the bottles, it got better as it aged. We offered several types of beer , wine and my hard cider at the reception. The 140 guests drank over 7 cases of the hard cider. I bottle pasteurized...

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

3rd batch of this went to secondary today. Down to 1.006. Everything fine and on schedule. We like this recipe so much I started a cascade plant. It's 4" now and in another month I will put it out when all threat of frost is past. If all goes well, I should have a modest crop this fall. In...

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

2 cases gone! I will be making more of this beer very soon! I took 12 bottles to a get-together and they disappeared immediately. Rave reviews by all! This is how I chilled my Triple Hopped Miller Lite Clone last "Thirsty" Thursday. Living in Ohio in Feb. does have its benefits.

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I believe I picked the perfect recipe for my first all grain. The base recipe is a fine place to start for future attempts/experiments, like using some of the hops you suggested. So many possibilities, so little time!

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

Taste tested tonight. 4 weeks to the day from bottling. 4 of the longest weeks in my life! This is my first all grain attempt and it turned out GREAT! I used the recipe in the original post with suggestions on bottling from posters . My wife says it's damn good. I agree. The glass, right out...

Fantastic Hard Cider Recipe with Instructions (and fall spice / cherry variations)

My daughter tried this last weekend and loved it! She wants me to make 6 cases, about 15 gallons, for her fall themed wedding in sept 2014. I'd be happy too. But if I make it next year when Bergmans Orchards starts pressing, the hard cider won' be done in time. If I make it now, Nov 2013, will...

Blonde Ale Miller Lite (Really Triple Hopped)

I'm going to brew this recipe as in OP. This will be my 1st AG. I've had great success with Mr. Beer and then Brewers Best extract kits. I will bottle I've read this complete thread and now completely understand the process except: 1. What is the prefered method of adding the 5oz of...

Fantastic Hard Cider Recipe with Instructions (and fall spice / cherry variations)

Yes, I used Red Star Motrachet yeast, sprinkled on top and stirred in with nutrients. I used 5 tsp of LD Carlson yeast nutrient. Label said use 1 tsp per gallon. I made 2 batches 1 week apart. When I put the first batch in the secondary, I started the next batch. It looks just like your first...

Fantastic Hard Cider Recipe with Instructions (and fall spice / cherry variations)

First attempt at hard cider. Followed recipe exactly. Used Bergman Orchards Cider(Port Clinton OH) which UV pasteurizes and has been making excellent cider for years. No chemicals. Made 10 gals. Bottled almost 4 cases of 12 oz bottles. Bottle pasteurized at 3 days without incident. It was not...
