    mothership wit

I don't have a recipe but a good start to building one is the Mothership page on the New Belgium web sight. They have given us the key info needed to start putting one together. Here is a link to the page. MotherShip Wit

    iodine test

I have yet to try it but maybe the chalk method would work better. It seems to me that it would prevent the problem of the iodine diluting into the wort. At the very least it should give the time for a good long look at the results. I stumbled onto it in the wiki so here is the link...

    My First HB

I don't think you would be so excited if you had any idea what kind of time and money consuming demon you have unleashed on yourself. Just kidding but seriously good luck and happy brewing.

Setting Chiller on top of element?

I would think that if the wort doesn't short the element than your cooler wouldn't either but I would be worried about the cooler getting a hole burned into it from the concentrated heat. If it was me I would err on the side of caution and figure something else out. Just my two cents though.

    Cheap hot/cold fermentation chamber?

http://www.williamsbrewing.com/CONTROLLER_HEATER_PACKAGE_P519C100.cfm I need to keep a keg-orator from freezeing in an unheated garage and found this little gem. I haven't bought one yet so I can't vouch for it but it sounds like a safe way to do what you need to do.

    Half Coupling problem, suggestions?

Maybe buy/find/borrow/hire a tap and tap it all the way through from the inside so you don't have to worry about the threads lining up. Or maybe contact the welder who did the job he might have a trick or two up his sleeve. The thought of this makes me shudder, I'll be getting two kettles welded...

    drill press capper?

The table on a drill press (and many other similar surfaces on shop tools) will have some form of corrosion protection like a varnish or wax of some kind or they would rust do to the humidity in the air. That said I would still cap in a rubber made tub or something. I really might get one of...

    RIMS heat chamber

I agree totally with jvd x but if you feel that copper is the way to go I would suggest that you get out the yellow pages and start calling plumbing contractors. The are likely to have bulk amounts on hand and in these hard times may appreciate some business. I needed 3 feet of 3 inch about a...

    Gravity points from fruit

when I need to know SG for fruit or honey additions I use the mead calculator at gotmead.com. I've used it around six times and so far the information has been very accurate. It can be a little tricky to use but once you figure it out its pretty handy for things like this.
