Slow Motion Danstar Munich dry yeast

I have had successful fermentations with Danstar Munich as well, this was apparently a weak sachet. I think you can get some more variety out of liquid yeasts when it comes to wheat beers. I have used it for more "American" style wheat beers that are not real estery or clovey... I think...

    Rhubarb Wine

Yooper, you're a real asset to these forums, so thanks for all of your input. I was inspired to do a Rhubarb wine after finding a recipe of my grandfather's. Back then it was a lot more simple! I am just looking for a recommendation on use of campden tablets, as this is my first wine. Thus...

    Undiluted Starsan Storage

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm not the best at keeping things organized, so I just keep some of the bigger brewday supplies in the bucket and I have a very small tote that I keep the rest of the stuff in. Then I store the bucket and tote in the garage so that it is out of the way. It looks...

    Undiluted Starsan Storage

I store some of my potentially messier brewing supplies in a 5 gallon bucket. I also kept my undiluted Starsan in that bucket, but a couple of times I had problems with it leaking because it had fallen on its side. After the first time I put it in a ziplock bag. That did not seem to help...

Tiny metal balls in floating thermometer

I might be more concerned about the glass than the metal BB's. I had a thermometer break in one of my brews and the majority of the wax dissolved into the beer, the BB's fell out and there was surely some glass in there. The BB's were steel (tested with a magnet, if they are lead they will not...

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Here's the link to the partial mash recipe I used: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f126/bee-cave-brewery-robust-porter-56768-post2308551/?highlight=partial+mash#post2308551

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I have made 2 batches, following Ed's original recipe and I like the 2nd better than the first because I left it in the fermenter longer... but I have to say that it is not my cup of tea either. I made it thinking my wife would really like it and she won't even drink it. I don't know about you...

I had an explosive fermentation with 1 packet. In fact, I have never pitched more than one sachet of yeast in a brew except for when I had a packet of recalled Nottingham that didn't rehydrate. You should be fine with 1.

Brewtarget 1.2.3 - Free Open Source Brewing Software

Yeaqh, I downloaded it from the sourceforge page. Congrats on getting it into the debian repos though, that's pretty sweet. I will watch for that on future updates.

Brewtarget 1.2.3 - Free Open Source Brewing Software

Rocketman, I just wanted to confirm that the 1.2.3 .deb works out of the box with Debian Squeeze amd64. I just updated and after fiddling to get 1.2.2 to work on Debian Lenny amd64. My hat's off to you sir.

Slow Motion Danstar Munich dry yeast

If I was in your position, I would probably pitch more yeast. I have used Munich before and after this brew and it was the only one that took so long to ferment, and it was the only one that tasted like crap early on. I actually brewed this Dunkelweizen recipe again recently and it turned out...

Congratulations in providing me with my first blowoff. Fortunately, I was fermenting in a SOFC which contained it. It was a nice little surprise to go to the garage and see beer leaking out of the SOFC as I was leaving for work, though. Interestingly enough I was using a blowoff tube which...

Brewtarget 1.2.2 - Free Open Source Brewing Software

I appreciate the work you've put into this and understand it is very time consuming. I've downloaded the SVN and it looks like my particular setup will have even more challenges getting it built than the 1.2.2 source. If I make any progress I will let you know. In the meantime I will be using...

Brewtarget 1.2.2 - Free Open Source Brewing Software

I'm noticing my cpu usage really high as well. I assume the fixed release is still in limbo since I don't see any new files on sourceforge. Is it a relatively simple fix which I could do in the src/MaltinessWidget.cpp file or maybe even patch? Importing a database was impossible because the...
