Hi everyone.
I did a search in both the forum and interwebs and couldn't find the answer to this one:
My neighbor invited me over to harvest a couple lbs of Cascade hops a couple of weeks ago (which was super-cool of him!) Unfortunately, I did not have time to dry the hops before I had to...
Right on -- thanks again for the info. The good news is that I had a second (dry-hopped) batch going at the same time. So, the kegerator won't be completely empty!
Thanks so much for the info @Vale71 and @RPh_Guy . It did appear that there was a fine, white fuzz covering the disks. I did look like mold. But what really confused me was the texture of the disks. They were about 1 mm thick, tan and almost elastic in feel. They actually stretched just a...
Hi everybody. I just ran into a pretty unique situation while kegging some hard cider today and after digging through the forum and some google searches, couldn't quite find an answer to this one.
I noticed 2 small floating mold-like objects floating at the top of my hard cider. Each were...
Hey all -- I have (another) question about Kombucha timing. I'm a long-time homebrewer of beer, but this is my first foray into Kombucha. My wife and I brewed up a 5 gallon batch, transferred to a 20-liter Speidel fermenter, then introduced a big ol' scoby to the mix. We are using a heating...
Perfect! That sounds like the set-up I'm going to go with then.
And yeah, I really don't have a HBS anywhere near here in the boonies of SW Colorado. The closest on is actually in New Mexico. So, most of our supply shopping is (unfortunately) done online. I wish there was a local biz to...
A year later? Wow! I don't think it would last too long in our house, my wide is a bit of a kombucha fiend. But good to know that bucha can chill for a decent amount if needed. I had no idea it had that kind of longevity!
How large was that batch that you made?
Hi everyone -- Long time lurker, seldom question-asker! I'm hoping that someone could possibly help me out with this one!:)
I plan on starting 5 gallon batches of kombucha and will be fermenting in a 20L Speidel (the same vessel I've been fermenting beer in over the years)
I understand that I...
Hey -- I just ordered a couple of new ones for $75 ea + shipping from Adventures in Homebrewing (normally $119) . They also have used for about 50 bucks ea with a fair amount of 4 and 5 star reviews. Might be worth checking out. Good luck!
Hey all - I've been a longtime (beer) brewer and long time reader of Homebrewtalk.
My wife an I are going to jump into kombucha. Since we already have a pretty extensive brew kit, we are thinking of kegging right off the bat. Does anyone have any input on the following?
-Is it a good idea...
