    Hop Growing In Central Texas

Hi there - I am in central Austin (off of South 1st). I just ordered some rhizomes and am going to give it a shot. Based on EdWort's experience (and others), I ordered Cascade and Centennial. I also ordered Galena because Hops Direct said those do well in high temperature regions. Anyone have...

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

I just finished up my keezer. The chest freezer I bought on craigslist (an old Amana) died about 4 weeks into my project. I had to buy a new one from Home Depot immediately since we had already started kegging the beer. I attached the collar to the lid since I was using a leftover piece of...

One more keg will fit but I only have a three way distributor. I want to make soda but I only have one co2 tank and no dual regulator. Instead of getting a dual regulator, maybe I should get an extra tank with a single regulator on craigslist. They come up fairly often here in Austin. Then I...

The lid is pretty freaking heavy but amazingly enough the hinges didn't snap off as I feared! I should get some sort of prop though.

Instead of a tower, I got an old box from an antique marketplace (maybe $20). It was a little short for my imperial pint glasses so I lifted it up a bit with a wood frame underneath. I may change out the faucet box at some point since it is not exactly what I want but it is working for now. I...

After the glue dried, I used some corner bracket hardware from Home Depot to attach the lid (a leftover piece of butcher block counter top from Ikea - very inexpensive). I might add some more corner brackets to the other side of the 2x4s.

My Magic Chef 7.2 Keezer conversion. I didn't think to take pictures until this stage. Very simple though. Took off lid but left hinge on freezer. Just cut the 2x4s to fit the opening. I did rout out a rabbit edge on the outside edge to fit over the raised edge. Once they fit nice, I glued them...

Sizing your Chest Freezer for Corny Kegs

Hi all, I am about to embark on a keezer build. I bought 2 cornies plus a 10# steel CO2 tank plus regulator on craigslist for $100. I would like to fit 3 kegs in the smallest freezer possible with room for tank. Just like jcdillins and the above setup. The Holiday freezer looks perfect and...
