gotta love this time of year.

I saw 2 guys ice fishing this past Weds. Although I was curious how thick the ice was I kept on driving. Miller Dam.

Now I know what its like homebrewing in the north

Another from WI. I'd rather brew in the winter. I have an attatched garage so I open the doors to both the house and basement, fire up the burner and in no time it's comfy. To cool the wort I put the keggle in the snow outside the door with a garden hose hooked up to the chiller. I ferment...

Rye of the Storm Smoked RyePA

Ok, thanks. One final question... At what point are the smoked grains crushed, after you take them out of the smoker?

Does the smoke flavor fade with age and if so how quickly? I just might have to try this one.

    New homebrew laws in Wisconsin

It passed today and is on it's way to Scooter's desk. So far so good!

    New homebrew laws in Wisconsin

Seems weird that it just sorta dropped out of sight on the list of bills in line to be heard. I was counting on it passing the assembly, however I have zero confidence walker will sign it. If any of the big breweries get through to him with a little cash (like miller did) it's gone. Money...

    New homebrew laws in Wisconsin

Where does this stand? They were supposed to hear it last week but called it a day at 12:30 from what I heard. I thought it was going to be heard yesterday but I can't find any info. Any news?

American Porter Bee Cave Brewery Robust Porter

Very good beer. I did not change the recipe for my first try at it and honestly I don't think I will except for maybe trying vanilla beans. I fermented it in a 7.9g wine bucket with an airlock and did not have any issues. I have been using a 7.9 for bigger beers and batches (6g) and have not...

    Strong Bitter Common Room ESB

Very good recipe. I brewed it with the only change being that I fly sparged. I gave it two and a half weeks primary then to the keg. After two weeks in the keg it is awesome. On my list for a rebrew.

    cocoa nibs in primary

I realize this is an old thread, but I am curious what you did and your results. I plan on brewing a chocolate/oatmeal stout soon. I have been shifting away from using secondaries lately and am considering adding the nibs to primary at about the 12 to 14 day mark. Any further opinions on this?

    Infection help needed..

Thanks to everyone. I am planning a brew in the next couple of days. I will do a very thorough clean to the keg, pick up tube, valve and chiller. I'll cover with tin foil during the chill as well as run hoses to and from the garage instead of carrying it outside. I plan on using a bucket...

The last one I brewed (kolsch) was fermented in a brand new primary bucket and it is bad.

No, I use a homemade copper tubing chiller.

    Infection help needed..

Thanks guys. I will find something to cover the pot with while it's cooling. My problems started once the weather warmed up here in WI so that may be an issue. The screen is good for flies but I suppose not much more. Another thing is that I normally just spray out my pick up tube with water...
