Steep or mash my 2 row?

I am brewing an IPA extract recipe. I'm using LME and my specialty grains are 1 lb crystal 15L malt and 1 lb. 2 row. I milled the two grains together so now they are mixed. The guy at my LHBS said using a pound of 2 row would help give this extract brew some body. His suggestion was to just...

10 gallon kettle on an electric coil?

I was contemplating buying a larger kettle (7.5 or 10 gal) and was wondering if either of these sizes would work on just a conventional electric coil stove top, or if i absolutely need to go all out and buy a gas burner (which I can't afford right now). Please let me know.

    Flat shakespeare stout?

Sorry for the slow response (I've been insanely busy) Yeah I racked it over the priming sugar in the bottling bucket. I've been storing it at around 70 degrees. And yes I used the pacman yeast that they recommend with rogue beers. I think i'll just give it more time and try rolling or lightly...

    Flat shakespeare stout?

I brewed the Rogue shakespeare stout over a month ago. It spent 7 days in the primary, 10 days in the secondary, and after using the priming sugar provided, it's on its 4th week in the bottle and it's barely carbonated. It must be a lack of yeast issue, yet the OG and FG were on par (more or...

    Airlock won't stay on

It's kind of ridiculous that I can't figure this out (especially because I've done it before) but I can't for the life of me get my airlock to stay on my carboy. it's day 3 of fermentation and I want to switch out the blowoff tube for the airlock, yet every time I pop the airlock on, even...

    lot's of foam, no blowoff

Awesome. Thanks guys. Sorry, I forgot to mention I'm using a 5 gallon carboy for roughly 5 gallons of beer, so i sort of expected SOME blowoff. Also, this might be a stupid question but can you stick a blow off tube too far into the carboy? I just realized mine's poked down about 2 inches from...

    lot's of foam, no blowoff

I'm brewing a generic "NW style IPA" (a recipe kit from a local brew shop). It is now 36 hours since the wort was placed in the carboy sealed with a blow off valve. Right now the beer is swirling (active fermentation I assume) and there is a nice 2-3 inches of foam on top (the very top layer...
