Technique or practice that resulted in biggest taste difference

Definitely temp control. Already had two nice batches come from my temp control chamber. I'm now looking forward to the next batch that is rigged with a two stage temp control (thermowrap) and using a thermowell. Ferm temps have been held at where I want; much tighter control.

Second Brew Started: Liberty Cream Ale

This was my first full boil batch as well as first kegged beer. I really enjoyed how it turned out. Kicked the keg about a month ago.

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I drew a sample while siphoning into the keg. WOW. Quite the difference from when it was 3 weeks old. It reminds me of a dry gewerts in some way. Very clear, and was able to siphon almost all of it. That was yesterday, and I drew a sample <24 hours, chilled with slight carbonation and...

    New to kegging off flavor

Ok, I installed this today (Thursday) and sampled some carb water and I can definitely taste a difference. I'm going to try a different carb cap though. I don't like the performance I'm getting from the set I purchased from the crankenstein guy.

    Cooper's Lager High ABV

That's high. This was my first as well and checked my log. 1034 and finished at 1007 at 3 weeks. Did you brew 6 gallons or 5? The kit calls for 5 uk gallons, which turns out to be 6 us gallons or 23 liters.

    New to kegging off flavor

I wouldn't mind taking this route as well, but to get this going, I need to invest in more kegs... Maybe next year!

    New to kegging off flavor

OK, how about this? Pretty spendy, but I can see it being worth it if you suspect co2 to be the problem. http://www.micromatic.com/draft-keg-beer/gas-equipment-pid-770SG-L1300.html

    New to kegging off flavor

This is interesting to me since I got my first co2 tank this week and made a batch of club soda and found the co2 to be somewhat bitter. I was expecting some residual soda flavor but was surprised at how off putting it was. I have experience with Sodastream devices which taste fine.

Technique or practice that resulted in biggest taste difference

Temp control, although I don't have first hand experience sampling the finished product yet, I have put two batches in a freezer with an insulated probe taped to the side of the wort along with a separate temp probe for ambient temp reading. Very impressed with the range of temps the freezer had...

    beer VS water- carbonation question

After saying I was going to get a dual line regulator yesterday, I go and buy a 4 line secondary reg instead. Just more control I guess. I have not tried my carb caps yet but I got a set from the same guy I got my crankenstein. Much cheaper than other places. You get four, and an adapter to...

    beer VS water- carbonation question

In the long run you'll want a dual line regulator. Yes it is a bit more pricey but it's so nice to set it and forget it. Or at least, that's how I imagine it since my set up isn't finished yet, but I will have a dedicated regulator for water and the other for the rest of the bevs. With your...
