    Yet Another Fermentation/Yeast question

Hey Ben, Airlock activity is a poor indicator of fermentation activity near the end, so it may still be fermenting fine. The only way to really tell is to wait 3 days or so and check the specific gravity again to see if it's is dropping. You may be just fine, so if you aren't in a huge hurry...

...yet another primary/dry hop timing question.

Thanks for the replies! Nanobru and Six 0 Turbo you've convinced me to experiment on the dark side; I just dry hopped my current brew at the tail end of fermenting (four days post pitching). Matt's statement in the interview that the yeast did good things for the dry hop flavors, creating...

...yet another primary/dry hop timing question.

Did anyone catch The Jamil Show with the Matt Brynildson, Union Jack brewer, interview? If I understood correctly, he likes to dry hop before fermentation is complete because the active yeast do good things with the hops. I've been following the recommendation to primary for a month, and...

More thanks for this recipe blacklab! My first batch was one of my favorites so far, and my second batch is fermenting now.:mug:

Need a recipe formulation superhero. Will provide free beer.

I realized I never followed up on this thread. The above batch stuck, and I had to mix it with the dregs and yeast cake of another brew to get it to finish. My main impression, even when mixed with the lower IBU dregs, was that this recipe was too bitter. I have the ingredients for round two...

    Maui Brewing Company Coconut Porter

My first home brew was made with a friend; we did a recipe of his inspired by this beer. We first made this Cannonball Porter. We then roasted two bags of natural flaked coconut until toasty dark (not quite burned), added the coconut to a couple of hop bags, and then steeped the coconut in the...

What's the point of a racking cane when...

How are you using the cap and cane? Are you tipping the fermenter and pouring with hose between the cap and cane?

    Conditioning underwater

I do the plastic tub with water and a fish tank heater so I can ferment and condition in my garage. I can hold the temp rock steady while the garage temp swings from 35 to 55 F in winter. Works great for me.

    Food processor to crush grain?

Cool oswiu!! I wondered if the disadvantages of a food processor were negated by BIAB. I'm going to be doing some small batches testing recipes, and will give this a try! I'd love to not have to drive to the LHBS each time for tiny amounts of grain.
