    Anheuser Busch Black Crown

For what its worth I just watched this awesome documentary on the beer industry. It seems the big beer companies bring out more and more variations whether they sell well or not in order to take up space at the grocery store because even if they lose a little money on a crappy selling beer...

    Hello Fellow Washingtonians!!

Hello all from south Tacoma! I just started brewing 3 weeks ago so I'm still working out my basics. I have an ale in the bottle and three batches in the primary. Looking forward to attempting to improve my brews. Which at this point shouldn't be hard since my beers taste like poo right now lol!!!!

Malt and Hops balance with extract

I read that thread earlier but i couldnt see anyone who used 2lbs of dme and their report but I'm going to mix it up today and see what happens without any hop additions. I googled the ibu of the finished kit and I found it was 32. Surely enough to handle the amount of malt that's there...

Malt and Hops balance with extract

I just bought a coopers english bitter beer kit and two lbs of breiss pilsen dried malt extract (at the advice of the lhbs employee)... Now that I've been reading I'm worried that my beer will come out to malty without a hop addition. Has anyone brewed this mix before? Is there any rule of thumb...

    Brewing with old extract

Ok... i got my hydrometer... measuring 1.022. The OG should have been about 1.055 according to the recipe calculator and FG 1.015 . Its at 64° now (I also bought some temp strips) so I'll leave it alone for another week...

    Brewing with old extract

Both cans hissed when i opened them, i figured that was from the hot water they were soaking in. The brew is dark amber. The wort tasted very bitter but i figured that was from the 40 ibu pils and the half oz of chinook.

    Brewing with old extract

I just brewed up an ale (we will call it an ale) from two 3.3 lb cans of liquid malt extract (one light malt unhopped extract one pilsner hopped 40 ibu extract) and one lb corn sugar. I did a 60min boil of .5 oz chinook pellets in the 2 gallons of wort and then cut it to 5 gal with cold water...

    Chinook Hops usage

Hey all, im looking to brew what i hope will be a stout (an old old can of stout extract and 3 lbs of wheat dme i have) with chinook. Its the only hops i have on hand, will a half oz for 60 min be too much bitter for a stout? I was toying with maybe only adding it in the last 15 to retain some...

    Drinking out of the primary

Ok so i'm brewing my first batch of beer. Put it in the fermenter (a 6gal bucket with a spigot) 6 days ago. It was a can of hopped honeybrown extract and 2.5lbs of dried breiss wheat extract. It stopped bubbling a couple days ago and today i turned on my spigot and drew up a pint. I tasted it...
