    a peppery finish, any thoughts?

just as a follow up on this project I finally racked this over to secondary after like 6 or 7 weeks in primary. I figure I'll let it go for a week to let the crud settle out some more but I took a sample and I'm pleasantly surprised on how this has turned out. It's slightly darker than i was...

Brooklyn Brewery cookie jar porter clone attempt

this one was further off from the first... i know it's a "porter" with a nice plum\raison flavour but my limited brewing skill hasn't allowed me to really match what they did. When the fall comes back around i'll maybe give it a another shot..

I don't take gravity readings anymore

i hear you. i typically do partials and i'll check the og and let it ferment for like 4-5 weeks and toss it in secondary for like 3 or so and i do a fg at that bottle time to get an idea of what kind of alch % i hit. I could probably make better beer doing it more often and as i should but i'm...

    smuttynose summer weizen clone

I've been drinking a lot of this as of late and figured i might as well give it a shot. Part of me wonders if it is just as simple as doing up a basic weizen and tossing in a bit of chamomile towards the end of the boil. has anyone given this beer a shot?

    mason jars?

whiskey jugs? not sure what you mean by that but the growlers were of a style of glass that was thinner like a commercial 12oz bottle. for me personally it all comes down to the fact that I loath bottle time so that is what prompted me to move towards the growlers. I did have a batch that...

    mason jars?

wow, epic post, but thank you. I hadn't even considered most of that. The growlers I'll just have to keep my fingers crossed as I'm saving them till the 4th but not use them again. I think this just pushes me one step closer to just buying a keg system :)

    mason jars?

I'd been using a couple of cases of flip top bottles for years now and the heavy glass has held up great. Recently I'd been setting aside growlers and using those also. The other day I had one explode but I think it's probably because it was a hot day i didn't have the ac in and it had been...

Brooklyn Brewery cookie jar porter clone attempt

Hi, I've got Friday off and am thinking of giving another shot at attempting to clone Brooklyn Brewery's Cookie Jar Porter. The last time around I think I got the aroma pretty close so I'm tweaking things a little. I was wondering if anyone whose been lucky enough to have this beer has...
