    Mash Bag vs Malt Pipe

I just put my bag inside the malt pipe. Lift and set the malt pipe as usual, then when most of wort has dripped out, I pull the (the now much lighter) bag for a dunk sparge. No hoisted needed. Though, I do use a 1 ft step stool to help with the lifting the bag out of the raised pipe. If...

    Random Drunken Thoughts Thread

Some of them are part of my personal growth as a beer drinker... Growing up in Appalachia, Bud was synonymous with beer. Sam Adams was my 1st discovery of flavors other than the corn/rice of American light lager. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale taught me that some hop bitterness could be OK with a...

    Underletting in an All-in-One

Yeah, since I have the bag, I still do a pretty fine crush with my corona mill... same crush as I was using when I was doing straight stovetop BIAB in a 10G kettle before my AiO... If I get stuck I can always lift the bag. But so far no issues. I *have* been sparging with a gallon or two that I...

    Underletting in an All-in-One

I line my malt pipe w/ BIAB bag and just throw everything in... no rice hulls. Slowly lower the pipe in, give a minute or two to fully wet the grains (my pipe has no side perforations, so the water has to percolate up through the grain bed), then a gentle stir. No doughballs. Just started...

    Dough In- Devices and techniques?

I just did 2 batches on my Klarstein AiO system... I haven't run too many batched through it yet, so I'm still tweaking my process. But for the first time, I "underlet" by heating my strike water then slowly lowering the grain in my bag-lined malt pipe into the kettle... I didn't go glacially...

    R.I.P. @Bracconiere

I just now ran across the recent updates to this thread but I *did* happen to brew one today... Not the cheapest brew I've ever made, but I did use up a lot of older grains that I've been needing to get rid of... An APA based on @Yooper 's House Ale recipe...
