The trend of IPA's tasting like grapefruit juice (either through the hop selection or added flavors) has gone so far that it is hard to find IPA's outside of the trend. Which IPA's go to the other end of the spectrum for a pine or herbal kind of flavor instead?

One by one, the classic British brands are being bought by big companies, and the result in quality and taste is predictable.

+1 for the Wrecking Bar. Good food, cocktails, atmosphere, and beer. Avoid the large popular breweries (Sweetwater's IPA tastes like sugar). Avoid Taco Mac. The beer list is great, but "sorry sir we are out of that one, would you like a Sierra Nevada pale ale?"

Speaking of that, how long can an IPA sit in your fridge before it loses significant freshness and hopiness?

Is it counter-productive to store a lot of beer in the fridge? Won't most beers (especially IPAs) lose flavor in 2-3 weeks?

This was highly recommended by my local beer store but I was disappointed. It was thin and fizzy.

Billed as a "Triple IPA" with 112 IBUs. I liked it okay but it is also kind of heavy and malty - like a hoppy barley wine. Any other opinions?

Me too. I had some Rogue Dead Guy Ale last week and couldn't drink it alone or with various food - it tasted like somebody dumped sugar into a real beer.

The problem isn't that I'm not from around here, it's that you don't get away from here much. The Atlanta "beer scene" is well below that of other cities at or near the same size. There is a fair selection of pubs with large bottle beer selection, and a few places with okay draft selection...

Don't get your hopes up, the Atlanta beer scene is pretty weak. All the local breweries are mediocre at best. As stated above, the Taco Mac chain has the best selection of bottles. The menu of beers on draft looks good too, but they are often out of the one you want. The only eatery worth a...
