    Rusted bottle caps

I'll just buy some more caps. I use Star San to sanitize them before bottling every time. I just have them in rubbing alcohol because of the rust. Thanks guys!

    Rusted bottle caps

I'm getting ready to bottle my IPA on Thursday. I looked at my leftover bottle caps from my last brew and they have seemed to rust between now and then. I soaked them in vinegar for about two hours, and then let them sit in rubbing alcohol for sanitation. I am using a clean wire brush to scrap...

Sour taste on my last bottled beers.

Yup, we will see what the end result is! I bottled the beer exactly a week ago, so I will test one out in another week and a half or so

Sour taste on my last bottled beers.

I'm not entirely sure what it was. It could be the Star San, as I was soaking the bottles in Star San while bottling. I would get one out, drain it, and then fill it with beer. So idk? The hydrometer sample tasted normal as well. The alcohol is a bit above expected (supposed to be 6.0%, but it...

Sour taste on my last bottled beers.

Hey guys. I bottled my beer today, and noticed something. I tasted the beer at the beginning, and tasted great. However, when I got to the bottom of my bottling bucket, I noticed a sour aroma and taste in it that wasn't there at the beginning. Is there a certain reason why? Only my second brew...

Sour taste in beer on the last few bottles?

Hey guys. I bottled my beer today, and noticed something. I tasted the beer at the beginning, and tasted great. However, when I got to the bottom of my bottling bucket, I noticed a sour aroma and taste in it that wasn't there at the beginning. Is there a certain reason why? Only my second brew...

    Tips on first cold crash?

It's simply because I have run out of Star San. I'm going to pick more up today, but my airlock would have un-sanitized water in it. I've read about people using aluminum foil to cover it as well, but that would still allow oxygen into the carboy. Just trying to avoid oxidizing the beer as much...

    Tips on first cold crash?

I just began cold crashing my IPA. Dry hopped it for 6 days, fermented for 7 days prior to dry hopping. This is my first time cold crashing. Is it okay that I wrapped the opening of the carbon with Saran Wrap? I know as the beer gets colder it will suck in, but if the Saran Wrap has it sealed...

Need an answer! Carboy spewing during fermentation.

After fermentation is complete, I would like to dry hop it. Should I transfer to a secondary to get it out of the Carboy since it's so nasty now? Or leave it in there?

Fixed! The trash bags are just so the krausen on the outside of the Carboy doesn't get on anything. Thanks guys! Y'all are awesome!

The coolest place I can move it would be outside right now. It's about 53 degrees tonight. Would that be safe?

Sweet. What do mean by loose foil? I'll put it into a trash bag. That is the coolest room in the house, unfortunately. And the house stays at 69-70 degrees. I just covered up the vent in that room and leave the window cracked because it's cool outside (50-65 degrees).
