Interesting article on Forbes talking about the market in general.

I do a cheap light brew (around $10 a batch) every summer that has corn and rice. In keeping with the "cheap brew" plan, I use dollar store instant rice and cracked feed corn which I can get for under 50c an lb. You have to boil the corn before mashing, which is usually not a problem.
Last...
That a problem Ive had with fruit beers. The sugar in the fruit ferments out leaving a hint of the flavor in a tart dry beer.
Im doing a mango dubbel tonight and Im going to mash high, put some honey malt in the mash and and some lactose. Hopefully all of the above will up the FG a little...
I have a recipe that Ive put together from a bunch of sources, including here. Ive run with this through 3 batches and Im very happy with it. AG only, but give it a try.
6.5 lb Maris Otter Pale (UK)
1.0 lb Wheat Malt (DE)
1.0 lb CaraRed (DE)
0.5 lb Flaked Oats
0.15 lb Chocolate (US)...
IF you dont mind cooking the corn before the mash you can pick up cracked corn very cheap at the grocery store in the bird feed aisle. My local Best Feeds (which is a garden/landscaping chain) sells cracked corn for .50/lb. They also sell raw (unmalted) wheat for around the same price. Whole...
yeah, Im looking through them now and alot of the recipes dont seem to match the numbers provided.
Im not going to double the malts cause 3lbs of dark malts will taste like the ash tray in my dad's old Ford LTD. I think i'll just up the pale malt to hit the OG, maybe up the dark malts a little.
This is recipe #173 on list that was released last week.
I was looking to brew a version of this with some coffee added. I ran the numbers of fermentables from the PDF which I have listed below. The recipe gives an OG of 1068 for 5gal. I dont see how this malt bill gives you an OG of 1068...
What late hops pair best with bourbon barrel aging, both for pale ales/IPAs & stouts/porters. Whats your experience combining late hops with BB aging?
Ive used EKG in the past with bourbon stouts. My bourbon oak dubbel had a minimal noble late addition and came out well. I was thinking...
Are people dropping the FWH hopping on this and moving to whirlpool additions?
Im going to do a batch this weekend with no FWH, no bittering, 1.25oz at 20, 10 & 5 with a 1.25oz whirlpoool. I might lose some IBUs, but I can live with that.
Anyone ever try Pilgrim? Got a lb on the cheap last year and have been playing with how to use it. It reads like a decent aroma hop and I was thinking about trying a single hop english IPA with it. Make the OG around 1050-55 or so, MO with some oats and wheat sounds nice.
I persistently get a haze on bottles that needs cleaned after every use. I posted a picture below, but Im not sure how well it comes through. I dont know the cause, but my water content and mineral buildup has been suggested. Im kinda doubt that Im the only one around here that has the issue...
I was tasked with making a batch similar to Samuel Smith's Organic Raspberry. Theres not alot that I found via google on this beyond OG, ABV and IBUs. The numbers are 1.065, 5.1 & 11-15 depending on the source. Assuming as a fruit beer it has some wheat, no hops beyond bittering and at least...
