    Anyone do an earthbox?

It's a water regulating self fertilizing container to plant vegetables in. https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f92/anyone-do-earthbox-65389/index3.html#post678101

    Anyone do an earthbox?

I got a really good yield out of them, but then started traveling too much and have abandoned hop growing. The key in future years will be soil testing and amending to make sure you keep the nutrient levels up, and lots of watering. As the plants get bigger and bigger they will start requiring...

Recipe Critique Needed - Hoppy Belgian (Tripel)

So rather than handing out cigars for having a new child I have a little tradition where I brew a special beer and hand it out to all my friends. My first kid was born in December, so I did a winter warmer. Kid number 2 was also a winter baby, so I amped it up and created double trouble ale, a...

Fermenting and Serving a Saison Brett

It's only partially the cost, but secondly having to store all the extra stuff and more importantly the pain of having to replace keg lines etc... If it turns into a new regular thing for me then I may go ahead and get a brett set together, but if I can be judicious on this one experiment then...

Fermenting and Serving a Saison Brett

All, I have been dying to try and make a saison brett ever since I tried Boulevard's version of it, but I have one thing holding me back. Do I need a whole new setup to do this? I have a glass fermenter that I am assuming I can clean out, but what about siphons, kegs, beer lines, etc... Does...

    A 20 gal day

Not a whole lot to say. I have been quiet for a long time, but me and a buddy have a 20 gal all-grain day going, so I thought I would share. Hope everyone else is enjoying the weather too. Sent from my iPhone using HB Talk

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

it might, yeast shouldn't be frozen, it kills it unless you take special precautions.

American Pale Ale Bee Cave Brewery Haus Pale Ale

Here's a quick picture I took of my combo pale ale/IPA batch after it got the gelatin treatment. This is definitely going to be a staple that I keep on tap. The pale ale makes for a great hand pulled ale and the IPA is wonderful.

Fellow homebrewers, meet my new beer engine . . .

I feel fortunate - I haven't had a problem with the one my wife got me for Christmas...but now I wonder if I am going to want one of the re-designs :)

mounting heater element driectly into brew kettle?

I use a homemade heatstick with my burner all the time. The electric cord is high enough that you just need to drape it out of the way. My burner doesn't need the help, but i get 6-7 10 gal brew sessions out of a tank with the additional heat stick and keeping the burner real low.

Fellow homebrewers, meet my new beer engine . . .

My only update is that I have gone to pumping water through it before and after use it. All is fine. I don't mind the 1 ozish pump amount. For me it is more of a special thing though,ie friends for a night. Vs everyday use

mounting heater element driectly into brew kettle?

I would be very wary of doing it for use with a burner. Having the electric wire that far down on the pot is asking for melting.

    PVC Tower Cooling Solution

If your trying to make the tower cold this method won't work. You have to add insulation to the inside of the tower. The added benefit for me is that in 100 degree Alabama summers my lines stayed perfectly cold in my garage keezer without the thermal load and condensation that the fan method...

Fellow homebrewers, meet my new beer engine . . .

Does anyone else that has done this find that the first beer tastes plasticy? I got my beer engine done a couple weeks ago and I think I am going to have to start pumping 24 oz of water through it before serving beer

    Exploring "no chill" brewing

If you ever lose a couple $60 batches of beer in a row your mind will change about not worrying about bugs. The bigger issue to me though - the reason most of us are moving to no-chill is to maximize our brew time, so losing an entire 4 hour brew session is a bigger problem then the loss of the...
