Hey there,
Wanted to reply once I got back on HBT.
Moved in the summer of last year to a new state for work and things got sidelined.
Interestingly enough, before I moved I did a 1/2 Pils 1/2 White wheat basic brew to try out with all of this and broke it up over 6x 1 gallon jugs as I am a fan...
Excellent and I’ll dig in to it. Any concerns you know of with using wheat beer strains in a non- wheat beer? Really looking to do a nice write up on each of these.
One of the many reasons I try and stick with the LHBS is the perks you can get by being there at the right time. My local one this past week had a box of expired white labs yeast tubes and packs tucked in the back of their yeast fridge biding it’s time. Some of them were from 2015, so a slow...
Ok, now not on mobile.
Co-worker has used the M27 yeast and loves it. Says it would ferment a porcelain toilet bowl if given the opportunity. Great estery profile, ferments dry and he let it freerise to 75 at the end to ensure some nice twang.
Have not used the Belgian but used many of their other yeasts. I am a fan. The workhouse yeast is a fantastic strain, French saison is muted but clean. There is an almost lack of info for their yeasts but try it out and report back. Their products have been a real treat to work with.
16 gallons picked up Saturday,
WLP775 in 5, WLP002 in 1, Mangrove Jacks in 5, and e-1118 with 7lbs of light LME added to the last 5.
920.75 + 16 = 936.75
Too funny, as someone who also resides in the mitten, I did my last brew last weekend. Spigots and hoses freeze, clean up sucks in the snow and it's dark too damn early. I'll break it back out in March unless we get an oddball warm November or December weekend.
Entered and they received my entries last week (from Michigan). Sent two totally new brews we made for the feedback. One thing I hope for is good judges and legible score sheets :)
Brewed it this past weekend. Rolling along in the basement but bumped my mash temps up to 157* for a more full mouthfeel.
I will update on the results but so far this smells fantastic!
