Ready to Start, a few questions

Is there such thing as an "easier" recipe and/or style to simplify your life as a beginner?

The Quest for the Ultimate Beer

Thanks for the feedback, we do appreciate it. I will agree that our choices were somewhat influenced by geographic availabilities, but we do intend to branch out to further, and less-available-to-us beers in the future, as well as to additional styles. Keep in mind, we did not intend (or even...

The Quest for the Ultimate Beer

I wanted to introduce you to a new site, Brewlimination.com. As the name suggests, it's a beer-related website, and I figured that fellow lovers of fine craft beer might appreciate it. The primary goal of the site is quite simple – find the ultimate beer. The method of doing this is by a...

Ready to Start, a few questions

I stopped by the only store in my area that carries brewing equipment, and sadly they did not carry any pre-assembled kits. But I did jot down some prices on the individual items, and took some time to play with some of the various items. After checking out various online sites, it's looking...

Seems like there's a decent Virginia representation, good to know, and thanks for the great welcome!

DogFish Head 120 Minute & WWS

The 90 minute is exceptional. Once I moved to an area that carries it, I sort of stopped picking up the 60. Maybe sometime I'll have have a 60 and 90 back to back to compare. To me, the 120 is more like a barley wine than the IPA it claims to be.

    Charlottesville, Va

I had a day-stop in Charlottesville last winter. We accidentally found an Irish Pub (McGrady's I think, from Google Maps) that was pretty decent. I have no idea how it compares to anything else in the area, but I know they had good beers on tap and decent food (and many TVs).

    Chicago area brew pubs

I've enjoyed the several times I've been to Goose Island, both food and beer. The roof-top deck on the Rock Bottom downtown was a nice way to take a break in the middle of the afternoon. Only having visited Chicago a handful of times for a few days here and there, I can't be of much help on...

Need to drink in Cleveland, Kansas City, Denver

I used to live in Cleveland, and I couldn't agree more. I used to frequent the Wink often when I lived in town, as well as the Rock Bottom (before it closed).

I now will invade the Cheese Making Forum

Before today, I have never even thought about making my own cheese. I'll have to add it to the "to-do..sometime...eventually" list.

    Inflatable British Pub

Well that's something you don't see every day.

What Sanitisers and Cleaners are used.

Seems like star san will likely be the first option I choose in getting started here. It seems pretty simple from reading about it here, so I'm hoping I don't find a new and clever way to mess it up.

    Fermentation Temps

Hmm, using a small refrigerator for temp regulation is a good idea. I do have a spare small one down in the garage, but I'm not sure it's actually big enough to be honest. I am curious now though.
