South Carolina New to Charleston, SC

Hi all. JI just moved to the Charleston, SC area (Summerville) from Ohio. Just curious as to what the local homebrewing scene is like here. Any recommendations on where to get CO2 tanks filled? What's the local club like? Thanks for the input. Happy brewing!

    Omega Lutra yeast?

Used lutra with my mexican lager recipe recently. It wasn't the same (clean and light) as my mexican lager is, but actually was a pretty good kolsch style beer. I repitched the yeast into a baltic porter that came out pretty good too.

Firmzilla question - collecting yeast/trub from bottom jar....

Odd. From the description, it would sound like the butterfly valve is leaking. Was it closed all the way? You can close it enough to get it to be liquid tight without it being closed completely. You should feel it kind of lock into place when it's completely closed. I could be wrong though...

Ohio Anvil 7.5 gallon bucket fermenter

Looking to sell my Anvil. It's honestly a really nice fermenter. I decided to go back to using a vessel that I can pressurize and got a flex+. The anvil is in great shape. It comes with the neoprene jacket and the 4 hole stopper. I added a weldless 1.5" tri-clamp power to the lid. $100. I...

    Coconut - lime pale ale

That sounds like a good combination. Anecdotally, I've gotten more coconut flavor out of sabro when it's used in the dry hop than using it on the hot side. Also, using some vanilla with coconut helps the flavor come across in the finished beer. Hope your next iteration turns out well.

    Pineapple Concentrate

Funny. I just had the same question using that pineapple concentrate in a beer I'm making. If I did my math right using this calculator Winemaking Calculations it comes out to about 36.37 brix. In beersmith, I used the pineapple puree as a template and adjusted the brix. Adding it to 'primary'...
