Wow, didn't expect to see that safety label on my new Perlick faucet boxes

If it contains brass, then they add lead to make it easier to work with. I bet that any brass pipes or fittings have the same warning in CA. You'd probably die of cirrhosis before cancer with the amount of beer you'd have to drink for it to even matter.

    Pre-inflated smack pack

At my LHBS they often have packs like this swollen priced at 50% off. I've been buying them, propagating them in a starter and splitting the yeast from the starter into sterilized vials. So far I haven't had one bad one. The best thing to do if you're unsure of your yeast, and what I do every...

How many gallons of EdWort's Apfelwein have been made?

    I just racked my second batch, so i'm at 10. 20,221 + 10 = 20,231

VA group bulk grain buy #3

I'm pretty sure it has to do with logistics. Too much trouble and not enough money to stack a pallet with 14 different kinds of grain and keep track of inventory. That's just my guess though.

    Options after forgetting priming sugar?

I was considering this. Have you done it? How is the consistency of carbonation between bottles?

    Options after forgetting priming sugar?

So my buddy and I had too much of our apfelwein and weizen and completely forgot about priming sugar on bottling day. This was about a week ago, and I just realized that we had forgotten when I saw the words "priming sugar" somewhere while browsing the forums. He's away on a camping trip for a...

Mini Fridge big enough for fermentation chamber?

My bucket is about 12" in diameter and 23" tall with an airlock. If those are internal dimensions and there isn't a compressor shelf or anything to deal with inside it might be big enough. Edit: It's actually only about 21.5" tall. I overestimated. Edit again: It's a pretty standard 6.5 gal...

Harvesting Wyeast 1056 from APA for Stout

Yeah, I caught both of those things before I skimmed... I primary in a bucket, so the carboy thing wasn't useful, but is a great idea. It seems to have worked well, the krausen that formed in the 500mL starter on a stir plate overflowed the 1L jar it is in. Much more vigorous than what I got...

Harvesting Wyeast 1056 from APA for Stout

Well next beer I was planning for early next week, so speed isn't a problem. I went ahead and got some into a starter on the stir plate. What I'm more worried about is if the harvested yeast will work well with the next beer, which is a different style than the one fermenting now.

Harvesting Wyeast 1056 from APA for Stout

I've got an APA in the primary right now that's been there for about 3 days and is almost fermented out (SG 1.049, FG 1.012, 23.8 IBU). I'm wondering if it would be a bad idea to harvest some of the yeast from the krausen and use in an AG Double Chocolate Stout recipe I have instead of White...

Just put first all grain batch in fermenter...

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone here for really helping out with the process. Everything went perfectly and was a lot easier than I expected it would be from all the reading I've been doing in the last couple of months. There was a moment of panic when my partner and I thought the pre-boil...
