I just read through this entire thread - took a while. Great information all.
I have been tempted to have a hop basket sized to just "sleeve" into my boil kettle (it is about 17.75 inches in diameter and 25 inches tall). That way nearly the entire volume would be contained within the hop...
I use 6.5 gallon carboys - and yes they are a pain to clean. But I can be sure thay are clean.
I use handles and brewhaulers to lug them around.
I use CO2 to push the beer into a corney after a long primary.
I have thought about using a stainless stockpot for primaries but haven't...
Look for a material that meets FDA 21 CFR 177.2600. Many sites reference food safe but confuse intermittent contact with continuous contact. You want to meet continuous contact.

I am not looking to polish the inside of a keggle. My plan is to use the method to clean up the welds and some corrosion pits on the inside of a stainless steel vessel (repurposed pool filter) and is about 17 3/4 inches inner diameter. Just wondering if the angle grinder method can be used on...
Given a cylinder of 12" diameter and 36" tall inside dimensions would be about 17.5 gallons. If those would be scrapped - let me know as I would be interested in picking some up.
