    AHS IPA directions

Sounds good, Then I will stick to the recipe as is and see how I like it. My first all grain I did at 154 and I thought the finished beer tasted a little too sweet.. finished at 1.016...So it's nice to know how to adjust recipes to my tastes, Thanks

    AHS IPA directions

I am brewing an all grain AHS IPA this sunday and after reading the directions that came with the kit, they seem a little generic with the ingredients just filled in. What I want to know is if I should use a single infusion mash at 150 like the directions say or kick it up to 153-154 like I see...

    Cinnamon and Brown Sugar Cider

We drank this cider on Christmas and I got great reviews. Everyone loved it. Here’s my notes: 06/28/08 5 gallons Mott's (clear) 1 packet Lalvin EC-1118 (pitched dry) OG 1.050 07/12/08 SG 1.000 6.55% ABV 10/01/08 racked to keg and I stirred up a little too much sediment so...

    Welch's Grape Juice Wine

Being that this wine was so tart unsweetened, I opened a bottle sweetened it up with some simple syrup and found I can make a very good sangria with it. The concord grape has very fruity taste which is perfect for a sangria. My wife loved it.

    cider aging: bottles vs. carboys?

I've always been told that bulk aging is better because a 5 gallon carboy will be less affected to temperature changes in ambient air than a bunch of 12 oz. bottles. The temperature of bottle can change very quickly up or down as compared to a full carboy. So the bulk aging carboy will have a...

    Man, I love Apfelwein

The only problem I see with putting this in jugs is oxidation. How long is it going to take you to finish? If your worried about having alot of bottles, bottle in 1.5 liter wine bottles. Only about 12 to 5 gallons.

    What was the OG?

    Man, I love Apfelwein

I wouldn't be able to detect the smell without sniffing the airlock. But my wife said she was able to smell it as soon as she entered the basement. The smell doesn't last long though. I use clear motts w/ asorbic acid. I couldn't get Tree Top but everything else is the same.

I've added Fermax nutrient and still get the rino farts. Maybe I'm not adding enough. How much and what kind are you using?

Results from juice, yeast and sugar experiments

I tried this once based on a youtube video I saw. It was really good until about 1.024, then it started tasting and smelling like nail polish remover. I think that was an infection rather than an off flavor. I haven't tried it again but I probably will in the future. Here is the thread of my...

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

Yesterday was the day, My first All Grain is underway. I had run into a few problems though. Not too big of a deal. My efficiency was really low about 57%, I only ended up with 1.053 OG. I don't think my sparge water was hot enough and I drained the 2nd runnings too quick (I didn't let it rest...

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

Thanks for the quick reply. I just called the brew shop near me and they don't have it... Just my luck. I asked what could I use that is similar and he said he has Wyeast German Ale 1007 and he does have that in stock. Any opinions on that?

Festbier Bee Cave Brewery Oktoberfest Ale

OK Now I have a problem, I have all the ingredients to brew which I was planning on doing tomorrow. I made my starter a few nights ago and fermentation never started. I had a gut feeling this would happen because when I opened the vial the contents were not under pressure like they normally...
