Jamils Irish Red ale- Roasted barley substitute 300L?

Hey guys, First time brewing an Irish Red tomorrow and need a substitute for 6oz roasted barley 300L. I have either black patent malt or Carafa II dehusked. Do you think I could substitute in one of these and still get the colour/malt profile? Cheers!

    Slow fermentation wlp002

I ordered some yeast from the states to be delivered here in Japan and it was delayed in customs for a while and when it arrived the wlp002 (english ale) had become clumpy and didn't look in great condition. I needed to brew but had guests over so had little time, so I made a starter for a day...

Scott, I just ordered two of these last week to be shipped to Japan. Can you confirm they will be the stainless NPT versions as advertised on the website? Are you saying these wont be shipped for at least another month? should probably inform people of that when they buy them! Cheers Jamie

Pot with too big a hole drilled (1.5" diameter)

Sadly mcmaster don't ship overseas. The biggest OD silicone gasket I've found is 1.5" ( the size of the hole in my pot!). Struggling to find anything bigger with the correct ID. Found this at bargain fittings...

Pot with too big a hole drilled (1.5" diameter)

Thanks for the reply Hmm. Pretty sure that's difficult to get here in Japan. What kind of silicone baking sheet would you recommend? Would need to be pretty thick I reckon...? Cut it down to about 2+" OD and 3/4" ID? One gasket on inside and outside of the pot? Can gaskets this size be...

Pot with too big a hole drilled (1.5" diameter)

Hi there, I recently bought a cheap 70 liter pot online here in japan cheaply but the guy had drilled a way too big hole for the ball valve. The hole is 1.5" in diameter and he tried to patch it up with the pieces shown in the photo. The two pieces on the left were on the outside of the...

Ideal cooler for 12 inch domed false bottom?

Hey, I got a free 12 inch domed false bottom a while back and am now looking into buying a cooler to use as a mash tun. I hope to be doing an equal number of 5 and 10 gallon batches. Was planning on buying a 10 gallon Rubbermaid but read that it may be a bit small for the higher gravity 10...
