Anyone ever consider brewing when looking for a new home?

When me and my wife were house hunting we walked into a home and when I walked downstairs into the basement and turned the corner into a full extra kitchen I instantly thought this house would be great for brewing! Needless to say we bought it! I turned the fridge into a kegerator and its all...

    A encounter with the Sheriff

Actually the highest ranking law enforcement official in any county is the Coroner. The Coroner is also the only person in the state that can put the Sheriff in jail!

    Tom Hargrave and Kegkits.com (www.ic3.gov)

This video also needs to be put in the "sticky" about kegkits.com at the top of the general beer discussion!

    Tom Hargrave and Kegkits.com (www.ic3.gov)

HAHAHAHAHA! That was the funniest video ever! I have been scammed by Tom also. I mean when the local news is doing a story about your horrible business practices and ripping people off constantly, maybe its time to close shop! I really don't understand why no one is shutting him down? This...

    Skittles in secondary

I have not, and don't think it would be a good idea, but who knows? Probably a better idea is to just throw em in your glass of beer when drinking it, if your looking for a fruity flavor.

Neighbor wants beer in 3 weeks...

I have made several beers that I have tasted at the three week period that were very good, including Ed Wort's Haus Pale Ale.

i made my yeast starter yesterday

I highly doubt that there is a significant amount of O2 that is really making its way into your starter. I would be more concerned about bacteria and wild yeast getting pulled in after the starter is fermented out. The majority is co2 being released so there is no natural air coming in until it...

i made my yeast starter yesterday

I really don't think it makes a significant difference either way! Airlock or foil! Some people get way too technical and really don't experiment and have any proof but just what they read and hear second hand. Then they try to tell everyone else how it should be done. They will both work! I...

    SWMBO says no to kegerator.

I have been using picnic taps with my four kegs in the spare fridge in my basement for a few years now. I really have no desire to spend over a few hundred dollars just for some perlicks and shanks. I also really don't want to drill holes in my newer $1000 fridge quite yet. As it works great...

    Too much boil off

I get 3 batches with a 60 minute boil out of a 20lb tank. I use a megapot for my boil kettle and need 7.5 gallons preboil to get 5 gallons of beer. thats 2.5gallon boil off which is on the high side.

    Gelatin in secondary?

this is an interesting thread. Maybe we should start a poll as to who adds gelatin before or after cooling? My vote would be before...

    Gelatin in secondary?

I have always added gelatin to a carboy secondary and then racked from primary into secondary on top of gelatin to mix it up, then crash cooled a few days and then racked to keg. It always comes out crystal clear. A lot of people use gelatin and don't crash cool and it still works, so either...

    Gelatin in secondary?

I would think it would be better to add the gelatin to the beer at fermentation temp and then crash cool. If you add gelatin to an already cold liquid wont it coagulate fast and maybe the possibility of it instantly turning into clumpy jello? I though it would be more beneficial to add gelatin...
