    Temperature question

Yeah so I have a lager kit and an octoberfest kit. Both have yeast for lager and require a temperature of 53-59 degrees. My ambient temp in my garage is 51 degrees. My question is : If my garage is 51 degrees and the fermentation process gives off heat from the yeast reaction, will the...

    Maturation time

If i leave my beer in the primary for 3-4 weeks to let it mature, do i need to give it another 4 weeks after bottling before drinking? Does the added primary time make for a shorter time after bottling or does it just mean more patience?

Primary to bottling bucket back to primary(secondary)

Primary to bottling bucket back to primary(secondary)

It would be for clarity, and I heard that it reduces a yeasty taste. Will all that be rectified by longer primary time? Perhaps after everything settles?

Primary to bottling bucket back to primary(secondary)

I was wondering if anyone would advise for or against using the bottling bucket to transfer my beer from the primary. THEN i would clean/sanitize the primary carboy and use it as a secondary after transfering the beer back via siphon. Any obvious pitfalls im missing? Perhaps someone has...

    OG and FG frusteration

That is awesome! Im would be psyched If I could get the % to come out around 6-7%. Letting it ferment a while longer should help that right?

    OG and FG frusteration

Also, after adding everything to the carboy it is hard to mix it well through the narrow opening. Thanks all btw, I love the quick input....this is the greatest forum ever!

    OG and FG frusteration

Well If I enter the correct OG into the alcohol equation the new % is now 3.81% that is much better. However, I did add an alcohol booster so that seems low. Is the % alcohol content likely to increase still? Should I leave it to brew longer?

    OG and FG frusteration

aha! there-in lies the missing link! Im not sure. I let it cool but did not take it at any specific temp. Will this ruin my beer? I know it was higher than 70 degrees and under 100

    OG and FG frusteration

I just started my second batch ever. I went from the Mr. Beer to the True Brew kit. It was an obvious difference in quality. I did an IPA kit because I love IPAs. I followed the directions down to the letter and was satisfied that I made no mistakes. The only difference is that I added and...

    My first Gravity Reading

I too failed to take an OG reading for my wheat beer. I took a reading after letting it ferment a week and it was at 1.0140 - 1.0160. I was looking for opinions on: A) If this is normal for wheat beer? B) Does this mean I will have a low alcohol content? C) Should I add anything (like...

Questions after a week of fermenting

Well the only thing I dont have is an auto siphon. I have the bottling bucket and wand. I see the auto siphon on youtube demonstrations and can tell that is the way to go. I couldnt find anything on youtube to do with a racking cane. It appears to be just a sturdier part of the siphon hose...

Questions after a week of fermenting

I just brewed my first beer, a whispering wheat, and I have some questions I hope i can get answered before I attempt bottling. 1) Do I need to put my wheat beer in a secondary fermenter? 2) My temperature stayed around 68 degrees for the first 2 days and the dropped to 65-66, is that ok...
