Well I guess I should start covering my carboys!!
Funny thing is ... my beer seems to be tasting just fine ... never skunky ...
what do you consider off flavours?
Does leaving your carboy in direct sunlight (afternoon - into evening) effect the taste of your beer?
I have made 5 batches that I have left in the same spot in the house everytime in the sunlight. Taste fine too me ... but maybe it tastes better out of the sun?
Looking forward to trying it
gonna do 6 days in the primary then 2-3 weeks in secondary ... leavin in bottle for 3 weeks, by then it will be July and time for some good beer!
what makes me me wonder is that I have done this beer before. This time I added 700g of extra liquid sugar. So I figured my alcohol percentage would be higher ... in this case it never really changed it.
I started a brew festa Blonde lager 5 weeks ago. 1st Sp was 1.062 .... after 1st rack to the carboy my sp changed to 1.012 after 1 week. Today (3 weeks later) I checked the SP and it went up to 1.020 ? how is this possible ?
I was hoping to have a strong beer!!!
I am doing a coopers wheat beer ... and added some honey as a lil extra
Was in the bucket for 5 days ... and been in the carboy for 1 week so far .... gonna wait another before bottling. I never knew that this beer could be bottled faster. Is this too long to wait?
Does anyone know a good site for wine discussion?
I have a red wine on .... soon ready to bottle and unsure if I should filter it or not. Heard it take out color and taste?
I just started a wheat beer today. Boiled wort and sugar and 700g of honey.
The temp in the bucket is hotter then my temp guage on the side. (31oc)
I have it outside to cool. I suppose its too hot for the yeast?
I think I will add 2-3 pounds to primary after pasturizing ...... then pasurize another 2-3 pounds for the seconday. (I wonder if I should thaw before pasturizing or how much water to boil first?) Why go with concentrate or puree when you have the real thing and access to lots of it cheap!!
