    Seattle Brewers

Thanks for the advice! I looked too late to catch the 22nd event. Oh well.

High post count does not equal brewing knowledge

Though I have only been brewing for a year, I spend the whole time brewing with about three friends. All of them have been brewing for years and two of them have worked at home brew stores for at least two years. So that's my background, I learned over the past year and continue to brew. I'm...

    Cheers from Philly

Went to school in Philly, loved that city. It's a shame that Ludwicks (sp) closed though.

Forgotten project, checking before I chuck it

Don't take this as gospel, as I only brew beer but: Stabilizing is used to inhibit bacteria and mold growth. I personally would not count our wine out however. There is a chance that nothing is wrong so I would progress as normal (maybe sneak a taster to verify) and carry on. What's the...

    Seattle Brewers

Hey all, I recently moved to Seattle, already gotten some advice on local home brew stores. I was wondering if any of the brewers in the area would be interested in brewing together or getting together to grab some beer. I live in Queen Anne and would love to meet some people in the area...

    Seattle Home Brew Store

Hey all, I live in Queen Anne. So near downtown is best, but I will drive to get what I need if I must. I do not all grain, but do partial mashes so access to a good grain assortment is a plus. Thanks again!

    Seattle Home Brew Store

Hey all, I just moved to Seattle and am looking for peoples opinions on where to go and which is the best store. I am not really interested in ordering online so I would much prefer a local store. Thanks all!

    Keg foam

I have lowered it, still getting quite a bit of foam. Thinking about making the lines ~8 feet. We'll see.

    Keg foam

Here's my setup: 5' of lines, about 3' from center of keg to top of tower, 3/16" hose, serving temp 41 F, pressure about 12 PSI. It is a Sanyo setup, it has never balanced like the charts indicate it should. My glasses always end up all foam, not just the first one. Are there any solutions...

    Wild Yeast

Will you end up with a funky tasting beer? Probably. Is it worth an attempt? Why the hell not? Worst case scenario you waste a batch.

    Sanitizing tea leaves

Just a thought, but you could put them spray them with water and then heat them in the oven/toaster oven at around 180 or so for about 10-15 minutes and pasteurize them. I would be a little reluctant to mix them with a sanitizer directly, I say this as someone who drinks a fair amount of tea...

Jet bottle washer on kitchen sink

My Local Home Brew store has one. There is no reason Lowes or Home Depot shouldn't have one. Perhaps call a different store in your area? I would think this is a common item.

    mud jugs anyone?!

I have bottle conditioned in metal top growlers (Rogue) a couple of times. Never a single problem, people seem to rant about this being a terrible idea for some reason. Just try a few and put them in a bag under the sink and see what happens. Worst case scenario is lid pops off and you throw...

    Help with my honey

I add honey when I make a fat tire clone, about 1/2 pound worth, and it does make a difference. Made it slightly drier, and with a faint honey taste. One of my homebrew buddies asked if I added honey, without me telling him. I like the flavor it gives to a few styles.
