I would highly recommend Janet's Brown Ale if you like hoppy American browns.

Cream Ale Cream of Three Crops (Cream Ale)

Made this last October, just getting to posting. My color was considerably lighter than others and expected, I'll back off some rice the next I brew this. Very BMC'ish, light, easy drinking and really should make more for this long Texas summer. Cheers.

Show us your Mead in a photo!!!

Well, December 2012 I made up a gallon of cranberry mead with 71B. All was good but after sitting in a corner for a while and before my last racking I noticed the bright pink had turned nearly clear! The red cranberry color was left at the bottom of the 1 gallon jug. Below shows the color...

    Crushing grain for BIAB

I use a feeler gauge on my roller mill as it has adjustments on either side, if you are not careful you will get a gap that is not even. So, personally I spent a few bucks on Amazon to get a set of feeler gauges and have it set to 0.022" for my BIAB setup with great results.

Don't forget I've abandoned my 10-12 gallons due to moving to Texas... sorry I missed out on the tastings and well, the beer!

    Priceless BiabCalc

Thanks for doing the work on this and then porting your spreadsheet to a web based version- pretty nice really. Can you let me know how you get from spreadsheet to web interface? I have a spreadsheet that would be nice to put in web form for myself. Thanks-

    Trader Joe's Cherry Mead

I didn't add sugar in mine, just the honey and juice.

    Trader Joe's Cherry Mead

No, I didn't adding any clarifying agents, I just let it sit for a long time. It really cleared well on its own. I've finally gathered up the 3 bottles of Trader Joe's tart cherry juice and 6 bottles of normal Trader Joe's cherry juice to start my 3 gallon batch.

Well guys, I unfortunately had to move back to Houston for work, so my ~10 gallons will be donated to you guys. I'll still be going to Portland once a year or so, but there is no way I can bottle/ship gallons back. It is a big win for you guys getting some more of what should be Great sour beer...

Making Traditional rice Wine. Cheap, Fun, and Different

Thought I would add some info on a recent experience I had with my rice wine. I made several batches just over a year ago and one of them I pasteurized with a canning jar and then left it in the back of my beer fridge for a year. It was incredibly smooth and quite honestly amazing! After...

    Trader Joe's Cherry Mead

Sorry for such a late reply- I've been moving across the country... I just had 3qts total of juice and the honey. Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

    Trader Joe's Cherry Mead

Thought I would follow up with a pic of the finished mead and thoughts on the tasting. My goal was to get this fairly dry, the last thing I wanted was something that tasted like cherry cough syrup. I would call this a great success- it is a dry mead by all thoughts, but it doesn't pucker at all...

    Trader Joe's Cherry Mead

Yeah it is, it really turned out a deep red color. Maybe from using a juice instead of fruit (not sure). It was 100% juice though with no color added. Looks much better than my very first mead (I don't count it) that I used whole cranberries in, it eventually dropped clear. No color, just...
