Does anyone else think Sam Adam's beer sucks

I avoid SA 98% of the time. But I don't mind getting down and dirty with a Boston lager.

Brand new Sierra Nevada Flipside red IPA

Pedestrian.... I love that word, when used properly with a good dose of irony.

    Cranberry Beer

I recently had Harpoon's seasonal cranberry ale. They put a slight but obvious cranberry taste on top of clean, sweet amber ale. It was definitely good for cranberry ale. It balances the cran tartness with sweet amber. Last year I brewed a fall/winter pomegranate on wheat ale, and it was good...

Brand new Sierra Nevada Flipside red IPA

I don't think knowing the second it was canned is that important to me. Could sacrifice that for putting in a couple of spaces or dashes. Just the month and the year works. But yeah, they're definitely not making easy to read on purpose, it makes sense because people can be easily confused...

Brand new Sierra Nevada Flipside red IPA

That is pretty cool, and I won't forget it. Thanks for the info! Though, they could go a step further and make it human readable so that consumers understand it casually without a secret online decoder ring. But seriously, all beer should have a date. If the beer is misrepresented by retailers...

Brand new Sierra Nevada Flipside red IPA

Love Flipside. I'm glad they changed it up because it's making it clear that retailers have no problem selling last year's Tumbler which is not worth drinking anymore. Chris Gasbarro's Fine Wines in Massachusetts has stacks of Tumbler for sale at full price. If I can't trust retailers, it's up...

    quickly heating up water?

Gas tank and outdoor gas burner will run your pot hot fast. If you want quick heat, that's your best option.

Funny things you've overheard about beer

Yeah, I used to smoke and quit after many tries. I haven't smoked for a few years. The first trick is to not start again. Because if you are like me, you will always want to have a cigarette for the rest of your life. The second trick to quitting is to not smoke for 90 days. The last trick...

    First infection...

Hoppy water is an improvement over what I'm talking about. But might as well bottle it to be sure. If it has a medicinal taste, that's another story. edit: medicinal smell

    What are you drinking now?

Just switched from glass of Hoegaarden wit to Clown Shoes Clementine white. Have new respect for Hoegaarden.

    Broken Gear

Did you almost run over a gipsy woman recently who might have cursed you? Amazed by 400lbs sugar bag--thinking there's a bit of hyperbole here and there. But yeah.. I believe in karma so I predict: seven years of great home beers for you.

    First infection...

Are you sure it doesn't taste disgusting? I have bad homebrew from a year ago that I'm starting to realize will never taste like drinkable beer. As long as you have plenty of room, denial is not an issue. I have probably three cases of undrinkable beer that I'm too lazy to dump; not an issue.

    So who's brewing this weekend?

I harvested coriander and chamomile from the garden this week, and today I took out an old slant with WLP410 for starter.. Next weekend I will brew my first brew since January. It was a nice break but now I'm out of the good stock.

Considering Fruit Beer for Second Brew

I would definitely use fresh fruit in this season, and let it ripen as much as possible without getting gross. IMO Costco has the best fresh ripe mangoes. Put the whole fruit skin and all in a bowl full of water and a campden tab(s) for a day in the fridge, then peel and cut the flesh from the...
