Can I boil the my oxygenation stone with....

I got this same set-up for Christmas and have the exact same question. The black polyethylene hose seems impossible to pull off the stone unless I get out the vise grips or pliers, but I don't want to damage the stone. I used it last night and just soaked the stone and black tubing in Star...

GABF hotel question-Comfort Inn Downtown Denver

Thanks Chris. Actually only staying there Thursday night since I have old friends in Ft. Collins I'll be staying with on Friday/Sat. I'll be skipping the hotel bar and going straight to Wynkoop's after 10pm if I can still walk a straight line:tank: I just wanted something a $10 cab ride...

Ways to mellow a "grapefruity" IPA?

I do realize that it may not be dry hopping at all. Keep in mind this batch is the second time I've ever brewed, so I'm still in the learning stages. Since it was a Dogfish Head IPA clone that calls for continuous hopping, I threw in a hop pellet or two about every minute or so according to the...

GABF hotel question-Comfort Inn Downtown Denver

I had trouble booking a hotel near the convention center(waited too long and the rates were outrageous), but ended up booking a hotel about 10min from downtown called Hotel VQ. Has mixed reviews, but it's very close to downtown and is at a normal hotel rate. Anyone know anything about this hotel?

Ways to mellow a "grapefruity" IPA?

I do love a hoppy beer but damn. Maybe I dry hopped with the wrong hops. I did have to make some hop substitutions to the recipe. I'll give it a few more weeks. In the short time I've been homebrewing, I'm already noticing I give my beer a bit more leeway than I normally would any other...

Ways to mellow a "grapefruity" IPA?

Just finished a customized version of a DFH 60min IPA clone and I think I may have dry-hopped for too long(two weeks). It's been conditioning in bottles for three weeks now, but upon opening, it tasted way too grape-fruity to me. I love hops, but my brew tastes almost more like sweet...

Late extraction addition on Partial boil IPA

Hi all, Thanks for all the replies. The FG was at 1.022 and the FG for the recipe was at 1.021 so I felt pretty good. Speaking of which, how can I keep the hydrometer from clinging to the side of the tube(I'm using the storage tube of the hydrometer for readings). I've tried spinning the...

Late extraction addition on Partial boil IPA

I used Safale US-05. Just sprinkled on top on closed it up....Did not hydrate, but I did notice it took about 48 hours to begin bubbling

Late extraction addition on Partial boil IPA

Hey Yooperbrew, I read all your posts about the late addition, so thanks for all your indirect advice! So, since I've added the hops way too early, what will that do to the final brew? Longer time in the bottle maybe?

Late extraction addition on Partial boil IPA

Hi all, Feeling brave after a successful 1st batch, I researched a DFH 60min IPA clone. Bought the ingredients, but later realized it called for a full boil, which I cannot do. However doing a partial boil I have read will cut the IBU in half, so I opted to do a partial boil with a late...

    IPA kit recommendations

Hi Everyone, Just bottled my first batch today(Brewer's Best Pale Ale) and I'm looking ahead to the next brew. I've been lurking here for a few weeks checking things out and reading some great advice. Thanks to everyone who participates in this forum. I think my first batch went much smoother...
