Hi I am wanting to brew a chocolate and chilli pale ale, which is light like a golden ale in colour but with Chocolate and chilli flavours for a Mexican themed birthday party for a friend.
I have a few questions
1) I know that you can get nice chocolate flavours from speciality malts but...
The bitterness comes from the stout can kits, there will be no added bitterness from the hopping I do as it will be after flame out and dry hopping. I may reduce to 18L so it becomes a thicker beer though.
Thanks for the IBU formula that will make things a little easier for other brews as well. I dont mind bitter tasting beers but 90+ might be a little too much maybe I should add a little lactose to sweeten it up a little? I just need to know how much?

Thanks for reply. No there is no boiling up of hops, it is only a dry hop addition after 5 days then leave for another 5 before bottling. (Its a starter kit malt extract, water, yeast) then dry hop.
