    all grain vanilla cream ale

I brewed a vanilla cream ale awhile back. Itsunami been in my basement about a month i just cracked one open. It has a really bad grainy aftertaste. Could that mean i mashed the grains to high of temp? from what i remember i think it was a little high.

    lactose question

I have a vanilla cream ale in the primary right now. I didn't add the lactose in the boil. The guy at my lhbs said it can be added at bottling time, i just needed to boil it like priming sugar. Im going to add the vanilla and rack it to secondary on Monday. I should be able to add the lactose...

    octoberfest ale

I brewed an octoberfest instead of making it a later i used a kolsch yeast. The mash went fine and so did the boil. I pitched the yeast at 78°f. Its been bottled for about two weeks now. Its carbed fine. It has a slight after taste though. Could it be because i pitched the yeast at to high of a...

    true brew pale ale

Has anyone successfully brew a good batch from the true brew kit? it was the first beer i ever brewed, over two years ago. I screwed it up then, didn't boil it long enough. Since then i have successfully brewed a few of their other kits. I have even brewed a few delicious all-grain beers. So i...

    grainy taste.

I agree it wasn't to smart. The beer smells great though. And after what you said I'm not to worried about it now.

    grainy taste.

I just bottle an Oktoberfest. I couldn't let that little bit in the bottom of the bucket to go to waste so I poured it in a glass to try it. It tasted pretty grainy. Should I be worried? It was an all grain batch, that I batch sparged. What would cause that kind of off taste?

    holy crap

Got home from work today and checked on my beer. This is what I found. Im scared to touch. Looks like its about to blow. I can hear it venting a little bit. So I think I'm just going to let the pressure go down, if it doesn't blow first. :)

    mash efficiency

Does anyone have an easy equation to figure mash efficiency? I brewed my second batch of all grain yesterday. I didn't figure eff. For my first batch, but I wanted to for this batch. I was reading Palmer's how to brew, I might of had one to many by the time I was reading it: ) but I couldn't...
