    Has anyone tried S-189?

Any updates on the S-189/WLP885? I'm thinking about using it for a Vienna Lager this weekend.

    Flask on a electric stove

I lost a 2L flask to my electric stove . . . had added the extract, was boiling, heard a crack, wort all over my stove. Now I make starters in a pot and just transfer them once they've cooled.

    Rosemary Recipe?

Avery Brewing Co has a Winter's Day IPA in their taproom once a year, it's amazing. I emailed them about it, here's the response: "Hola, Chris... I make the Winter's Day IPA kegs individually by dry-spicing and dry-hopping unfiltered IPA inside each keg. So I open up the keg, measure out...

    Stuck Braggot Fermentation

Hey, sorry it's taken me so long to respond . . . I ended up bottling at 1.037 It's super sweet, but really tasty. Only carbonated a little bit. I only would want one bottle at a time, but that one bottle is really good (esp. sitting on top of a mountain)

    Wow, how cool is this?

I was able to build my own two channel cold plate jockey box for <$200. It might be a bit more expensive than what you linked to, but a lot easier to store and move around.

    Where Did my beer go?

Did you account for boil off? If your total water to start out was 5gal, then it is possible you boiled off ~1.5gal during your 60min boil, leaving you with 3.5 gal beer. I did this on my first batch, beer still turned out really well though.

    An interesting thermocouple/filtering phenomenon

Not sure about your setup, but would ferrite beads on the grounding wire reduce some of the noise?

    Bulk Hops-I'm torn

Just a warning, a pound of leaf hop takes up a LOT of room in the freezer, especially if you don't have a vacuum sealer. Yeah, not going to make that mistake again, bulk pellet hops for me.

    Beer Allergy Diagnosis???

My Dad hasn't been able to have a beer for ~30 years because he is severely allergic to hops. The last beer he had, he ended up in the ER because it triggered a massive asthma attack. I know you mentioned dark malts, so this might not be it, but there's always that possibility.

    Stuck Braggot Fermentation

I originally made a 1L starter of Pacman on a stirplate and then bumped it up to 1gal, which wouldn't fit on my stir plate, but I shook it whenever I walked by. I've had higher alcohol brews than this ended up from pacman too, so I'm not sure that it has hit it's limit . . .

    Stuck Braggot Fermentation

Hi guys, I was hoping I could get a little bit of advice . . . I have a braggot in my fermenter right now that seems stuck at 1.037. It's been there for several weeks now, even after pitching some champagne yeast and a bunch of nutrients two weeks ago. It started with an O.G. of 1.110 so...

Air Lock vs. Blow Off Tube

Wow a six page thread about air locks and blow off tubes and no one has mentioned aluminum foil yet??? For the most part that's what I use when I use carboys, just sanitize some aluminum foil and form it over the opening of the carboy. It lets blowoff escape without an explosion...
